Shackleton Fox Guild of Master Craftsmen Approved | Antique Lighting Specialist | Heritage, Period Interiors & Decorative Antiques Heritage. Craftsmanship. Timeless Interiors.

Shackleton Fox is an award-winning, husband-and-wife antiques business specialising in antique lighting, decorative antiques and bespoke sourcing for private collectors, interior designers, country houses and commercial interiors across the UK and worldwide. Founded by Jackie and Jonathan Shackleton-Fox, our business is built on a lifelong passion for heritage, craftsmanship and the belief that ex

ceptional antiques deserve to be preserved and enjoyed for generations to come. Jackie's journey into antiques began in childhood, learning the trade alongside her father. Her passion for historic buildings continued throughout a successful career with the National Trust, where she worked as a National Contracts Manager supporting approximately 130 historic properties across England. Working alongside building surveyors, curators, collections managers and conservation specialists provided a unique insight into Britain's finest country houses, their collections and the importance of preserving our decorative heritage. Jonathan brings over 25 years of commercial and financial experience, combined with a meticulous eye for detail and a passion for restoration. Together, we have combined our complementary skills to create a business founded on trust, quality and personal service. Our appreciation for heritage extends beyond the business itself. Together, we lovingly restored our own eighteenth-century Grade II listed cottage, undertaking much of the work ourselves, including traditional lime mortar repairs, sympathetic restoration and the careful preservation of its original character. That experience continues to shape our philosophy today. What We Do

We absolutely love these very special 1931 Lloyd Loom “Zeppelin” armchairs by W. L***y & Sons — complete with their original stamped marks. 🤎

Designed during the golden age of luxury airship travel, their lightweight construction, beautiful woven form and wonderfully comfortable sprung seats make them a particularly special pair.

We took them to the Battersea Decorative Fair in May, where they were also featured in Country Life magazine — a lovely bit of recognition for such rare chairs.

We’ve photographed them here in an orangery setting, but they are incredibly versatile. We currently use them as reading chairs on our landing, although we can equally imagine them in a grand bedroom, bathroom, drawing room or conservatory.

Beautifully reupholstered in a soft botanical fabric, they are comfortable, decorative and have a fascinating story behind them. Both seats have sprung bases and sprung cushions!

A wonderful burst of Victorian colour. 🦩🦢

These beautiful late 19th-century mechanical chromolithographs by Emrik & Binger were originally created as intricate folding cards — remarkable examples of Victorian paper engineering, now professionally mounted and framed as decorative works of art.

We absolutely love the flamingo pinks, soft greens, blues and warm natural tones. Despite being over 130 years old, they feel remarkably fresh and could work in almost any interior — from a country house or conservatory to a contemporary home.

A rare, colourful and wonderfully decorative pair.

A true piece of Florentine craftsmanship.

Dating to c.1890, this exceptional large pietra dura plaque is quite literally a painting created in stone — individually cut jaspers, agates, porphyry and coloured marbles fitted together with extraordinary precision.

What makes it particularly special is its heraldic story. The noble coat of arms, three chevrons and three doves suggest a bespoke commission rather than a conventional Grand Tour decorative piece — an object created to represent lineage, protection, fidelity and peace.

At 54cm square, the quality, weight and presence are superb. Look closely and the craftsmanship is remarkable.

A truly remarkable piece of 19th-century craftsmanship.

This monumental hand-carved heraldic achievement dates to c.1850 and represents the Belgian noble Bauwens family, elevated to hereditary nobility in 1843.

Carved in wonderfully deep relief, the family arms are flanked by two elegant greyhound supporters and surmounted by a knight’s helmet and crown, surrounded by sweeping acanthus decoration.

Look closely and the craftsmanship is extraordinary — deep undercutting, beautifully modelled details and a wonderfully aged, softly worn surface that could only come with time.

At 55cm high, it has real presence and would make an exceptional statement piece hung within a country house interior, library, study or collected gallery wall.

We really love this picture! ❤️

A wonderfully evocative Italian Liberty decorative study dating to 1910, with so much character, history and atmosphere.

Originating from the Polesine region of Northern Italy, the work appears to have been an artisan decorator’s working study or bozzetto — possibly created in preparation for a larger mural, fresco or decorative interior scheme.

What makes it particularly special are the original handwritten inscriptions, giving us a fascinating glimpse into the working practice of an Italian decorative artist more than a century ago.

Now newly presented in a simple ebony-style frame, we love the contrast between the beautifully aged paper, soft period pigments and clean contemporary framing. A unique piece that would look fantastic in a hallway, library, study or layered into a gallery wall.

MADE TO WORK. WORN BY TIME. 🦆

A wonderfully characterful early 20th-century Scandinavian working duck decoy, probably Swedish, circa 1920–1940.

Hand-carved and painted with an extraordinarily low swimming profile, this was never intended simply as decoration — it was a working object, made to sit convincingly upon the water.

Decades of use have left behind beautifully worn paint, old knocks, oxidised iron fixings and a wonderfully untouched patina. The original-looking glass eyes, surrounded by flashes of warm orange-red, give it enormous character.

We have deliberately left it exactly as we found it.

Today, it makes a fabulous piece of European folk art and sporting history — perfect displayed on a console, bookshelf or side table, or amongst a collection of country-house objects.

Scandinavia, probably Sweden | Circa 1920–1940

A complete set of four — and all the more special for having remained together. 🐎

Dating to 1891, this wonderful set of four Victorian fox hunting paintings by British sporting artist Charles Faulkner captures the atmosphere of the English hunt: scarlet coats, horses crossing open country and wonderfully animated packs of hounds.

Each painting tells a different part of the story, but displayed together they create a particularly striking English country-house collection.

Beautifully presented in matching giltwood frames and wonderfully versatile hung as a group of four, two pairs, or along a hallway or staircase.

Available now as a complete set.

IT HOLDS BOOKS NOW… BUT THAT’S NOT WHAT IT WAS MADE FOR. 👀

We love finding new uses for old objects, and this wonderfully primitive piece of vernacular craftsmanship has been given a rather different purpose at Shackleton Fox.

Today, it makes a fantastic bookrest or display stand — perfect for an open cookbook in the kitchen/restaurant, a favourite volume, artwork or even a treasured collection.

But that wasn't what it was made for.

In fact, its original working life took place somewhere rather different…

Any ideas what it was originally used for?

Pop your guess in the comments 👇

We’ll reveal the answer in our Stories later today.
