Made For This: Episode 4. A space for evenings with friends in your garden, without ever leaving home.

No. The fibreglass shell won’t rot, has an expected lifespan of 20 years or more, and only needs soapy water.

The real job is oiling the little bit of wood on the outside once a year.

Here is the whole routine:
1. Once a year: treat the outside wood, which is the arch around the front and the decking step. We recommend a UV protection oil for the arch and an Osmo decking product for the step. Close to the coast, do it more often.

2. Once a year: a drop of 3-in-1 oil or WD40 in the locks.

3. When it looks grubby: wash the shell with soapy water.

4. Picked up a scratch? T Cut scratch oil, the same stuff you’d use on a car.

5. Every time you use it: let it breathe. Set the window to “just open”, keep the gaps along the base bolts clear, and if you add heat, choose a dry electric radiator over gas.

6. After delivery or a move: give it a few weeks to settle, then adjust the door if needed. Our videos show how, with a couple of simple tools.

There is no timber cladding to restain and no felt roof to replace, and the fibreglass shell and base carry a 20-year warranty against water ingress due to defects.

Handmade in Southampton, UK, in our workshop, by craftspeople using specialist boat-building techniques, which is exactly why it looks like one.
