Me thinks I've finished my third Greek Myths picture.
This one is all about the lesser known Danae...daughter of King Acrisius of Argos.
An oracle told Danae that one day she would have a son who would kill her father. On hearing this Acrisius locked her away but Zeus visited her in the form of golden rain which impregnated her.
Danae gave birth to Perseus and when Acrisius discovered the child he set both mother and child adrift at sea in a chest. When Zeus discovered this he asked Poseidon to calm the waters to help with safe travel....

A bit more work in progress, a bit more colour. My third Greek Myth picture is growing.
Danae and her infant son, Perseus, were trapped in a wooden chest and cast in to the Aegean sea by her father, King Acrisius of Argos...They were saved from death by Poseidon calming the water beneath them at Zeus's request

I'm currently working on my third picture inspired by "Greek Myths." This one is inspired by the slightly lesser known story of Danae, mother of Perseus.
My studio is so so hot at the moment, my hands keep sticking to the paper and I swear I might invest in a sweat band for my brow if the temperature doesn't drop soon.

Rummaging through old bits and bobs I have just come across this old photo. That's me on the left...parading as baby bear, my old friend Sharone Backers on the right as my mum and, if I remember correctly, the legend that was Tony Goodrick, Hackney Empire Office Managerial Wizard of olden days, as the reluctant Patriarch of the bear family. And, if your memory needs prompting or you're too young to remember, the gentleman in the front is Paul Bradley, Nigel of Eastenders, (who was absolutely lovely.)
I honestly did quite an array of jobs when I was younger and in this instance, whilst I was working at the Hackney Empire Theatre, I was persuaded to dress up as Baby Bear in various capacities to help promote the pantomime....on stage and off,... including this picture that was taken for the Hackney Gazette newspaper.
I hasten to add that I was not the person that played Baby Bear in the panto....just borrowing her skin...although it very nearly did happen one day when the actress was a little late for the show.
And no, thankfully I didn't let the fame go to my head.... Oh, those were the days.
