It's been quite the slow start to 2026 on the furniture front, due to us being very busy with everything else we have going on in life at the mo.
I did manage to grab an hour out in the sunshine t'other day to get started on a trio of stools we've had sitting around for a while.
Not sure things are set to calm down any time soon, but hopefully the weather will stay pleasant and I can grab a few more hours out in the sunshine to get some more work done on furniturings that need doing. 🤞

And so it begins.

First in through the door in 2026 are these two mid century armchairs. Got a few ideas in mind for them, so hopefully after a nice refurb, they'll be a right lovely pair. 😁

It's been a bit of a mad build up to Christmas this year. We've had some family stuff that has required our focus, hence we've been a little quiet of late on the old socials. Thankfully, things appear to be on the up and hopefully that continues, so for now, we're looking forward to a house full for Christmas Day, a relaxing Boxing Day and a fun filled New Year.

From Charlie and I, we hope you all have a cracking Christmas and a brilliant New Year.

All the best and we'll see you in 2026. 😁

Charlie was at a local Christmas fair t'other day and I have to say, her stall of all the knittings and Christmas decorations she's made looked absolutely belting. And she was really chuffed to make quite a few sales as well. 👏😁

I'm not entirely sure what's still available, but feel free to DM us if there's anything you see in the photos that you'd like and if it is still available, we'd be happy to sort out purchase and postage. 😁

Whilst Charlie is a veritable expert at this, it was my first time ever experiencing sweeping our own chimney.
Previous years, we've had someone come in to do it, but this year, to save a few pennies, we've gone DIY. And having previously existed in a world of gas fires, or no fire at all, this meant it was my first time of doing this. Not that I overly did anything. Charlie knew what she was doing, so I left her to crack on with it and I just played the part of the (cough) glamorous assistant. 😜😆

Well knock me down with a feather duster!

Today is the day that marks the 5th anniversary of our very first chair sale. Wahey! 😄

It's mad to think we've been faffing with furniture for five years now. So many chairs. And a few other bits n bobs. But hey, we enjoy it and it helps us in saving up to take the kids on holiday, so long may it continue. 😁

Anyway, this be the chair that was the first, a Parker Knoll PK-725. I do like these chairs and I did want to keep hold of this one, but instead it went to a new home and in doing so, got the ball rolling on our lovely little cottage industry. 😁

It's been a somewhat dull and cold time of it this week. With no refurbs in the offing, focus has been on jobs around the house to get the gaff ready for the chaos of Christmas. Painting walls, fitting new light switches and mains sockets, fitting draught excluders on the front and back doors, getting some deep cleaning done and a much needed (and satisfying) full defrost and clean of the freezer. Ah, the joys of it.

Meanwhile, Charlie's been swanning about in a spa, having whirlpool bath time and massages. It's alright for some!

To be fair, it was only one day, it was a birthday present and she has been working her socks off at the salon, as well as doing school runs, deep cleaning our kitchen, making Christmas decorations for the upcoming local Christmas fayre and cooking us all lovely meals.

That said, I did make a brilliant bolognese on Wednesday. 👌
Methinks I need to up my game. 😄

We're really pleased that the little Parker Knoll PK747 has now gone off to its lovely new home. 😁

On the face of it, it doesn't appear to be much, but from a different perspective, there's an art to upcycling. 😉😁

It's a relatively small museum, in the grand scheme of things, but our visit to the Design Museum Prague was a wonderfully enjoyable experience.

We were greeted with a smile by a very friendly chap, who gave us a little history and insight into the museum and it's contents, before furnishing us with cups of coffee to enjoy as we ambled around the exhibits.

With many an iconic seat to be seen, along with ornaments, appliances and even a Vespa, the museum showcases a lovingly curated slice of twentieth century design.

These photos are a small selection of what is on display, primarily my personal favourites and upon exiting the exhibition, we were asked which our particular favourite was. While Charlie had a leaning toward the Coconut Chair, for me it absolutely had to be the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman.

Back at the beginning of our visit, we were told that at the end "there's a surprise". I'm still not sure what that specific surprise was, but on our way out, having never sat in one, I asked if I could take a seat in the Barcelona chair that was by the reception desk. "Of course" was the reply and and to my surprise... it was not that comfortable. Maybe that was the surprise - iconic design does not necessarily equal iconic comfort. I hope one day I'll have the opportunity to sit in an Eames Lounge Chair and discover that does tick all the boxes.

So if you're a fan of twentieth century design (especially chairs) and you find yourself in Prague, we can highly recommend you take a visit to the Design Museum Prague. We had a lovely time there and hopefully we'll get the opportunity to return someday. 😁
