It’s in the tiny details!
Did you know that I design and create little bird decorations? I hope that you have seen them over the years in my posts, and more recently the past few days?
But did you know that each and every one of them is created entirely by my own fair hand?
🩷Every decoration starts with a visit to my local beach here on Gower, where I search for, and collect the most interesting and beautiful pieces of driftwood I can find. These are then cleaned and carefully put away to dry out over several weeks.
🩵Then I sort through my felt and fabric to decide what colour palette I want to use, and create a collection of co-ordinating threads, beads and buttons.
💜Each bird pattern piece is then precisely cut out by hand, carefully hand sewn, intricately hand embroidered and embellished and stuffed.
❤️The adorning appliqué flowers, leaves, hearts or other delicate decorations are then handmade, crocheted or hand sewn.
🧡The perfect driftwood perch is selected, delicately drilled and prepared and the wire hanger is attached.
💙Finally the little bird (or birds) are hand sewn on to the driftwood and the embellishments are sewn on to the wire and secured in place with a glued on felt backing.
These seemingly simple, but beautiful decorations are a combination of my skill, my attention to detail and my love of hand crafted items.
Each one is eco-friendly and Vegan friendly too.
They make a wonderful, thoughtful gift and very special keepsake. I also take commissions, and can make these from
any keepsake fabric you might have.
