There comes a day that every child dreads…
The day you have to learn how to live in a world without your mum.
No matter how old you are, no matter how much time passes, there will always be moments when all you want is one more hug. One more conversation. One more morning hearing her voice.
These two pendants were created for two sisters carrying a love that death could never take away.
As I listened to the stories of their beautiful mum, I realised something…
She wasn’t remembered for what she owned.
She wasn’t remembered for what she achieved.
She was remembered for how she made people feel.
She was kind.
She was caring.
She loved with her whole heart.
She was Mum to three children. Nan to seven grandchildren and five step-grandchildren… although she’d never have accepted the word “step.” To her, love didn’t come with labels. If you were family, you were hers.
She loved being in her garden, had a free-spirited hippy soul, and never seemed able to sit still. Somehow, family games always ended with her in goal, usually laughing louder than everyone else.
And tomorrow morning, somewhere, Radio Gloucester will still be playing at breakfast…
But for the people who loved her most, it will never sound quite the same.
Grief isn’t just missing someone.
It’s missing the ordinary moments that quietly became the most precious memories.
It’s wishing you could tell them about your day.
It’s reaching for the phone before remembering.
It’s hearing a song and being taken straight back to a kitchen table, a garden, a family laugh.
Every time I create a memorial piece, I don’t just see ashes.
I see a mother who was deeply loved.
A grandmother whose love reached every child equally.
A family trying to find comfort while carrying an unimaginable loss.
These pendants won’t take away the pain.
But I hope that, on the days when their hearts ache the most, they can reach for them, close their eyes, and for just a moment…
feel like Mum is right there beside them.
Because while a life may end…
Love never does. 🤍🪽
