Attic Antiques Looking to rehome your family treasures? Attic Antiques have been helping Aberdeenshire families for over two decades.

Attic Antiques was founded in 2006 by Robert Cook after an initial career in museums and the heritage sector. Unlike most antiques dealers we don't have a shop but instead trade mostly online and at fairs. Because we don't have premises, we don't have high overheads and so we can give you the best prices for your antiques and collectables. We offer a friendly, personal service which includes home visits and valuations.

We are privileged to see so many spaces that others don't and some that won't exist forever. Luckily this 1980s kitchen (complete with built in deep fat fryer and step for higher cabinets) is being kept by the new owners ✨

We travelled to a house call in Ballater yesterday and we weren't disappointed! Amongst the interesting finds was this Seaton lidded jar, complete with a surprise inscription inside.

What do you do when your belt no longer fits? Make the buckle into a brooch! This large Sterling silver brooch started life as a two part belt in 1890 but over time it was fused into this distinctive and unusual piece.

Tools of the Victorian merchant trade!

A shop barrel for storing dry goods (note the lid has a lip) and a pointing cane used for getting items from high shelves.

Both came from former Ironmongers, William Grant's, in Fraserburgh.

Next Saturday 17th of October Treasure Trove will be at the Sir Duncan Rice Library, Aberdeen University. This is a perfect opportunity to have any archaeological pieces you've dug up assessed. There will also be fun activities including Aberdeenshire Museums object handling and metal detecting!

The Treasure Trove Team are back in Aberdeen. Book an appointment or come along on the day to hear a talk about Treasure Trove and to enjoy other archaeology-themed activities from the University Collections and other guests! Suitable for adults and children.

It's good that there's still collectors like Colin Robertson of Maud out there. He's not on Facebook but he's asked us to share the following...

Hi Robert, I am like yourself I like to keep history in the village. So, being water inspector for over forty years in Maud I always had my eye on this original local plumber Craig's toby lid.

When I saw the contractors replace it today with a new one (and this one was destined for the scrap) I asked if I could save it for our local railroad museum.

Can you kindly put this on your page which I read everyday? Thanks Colin

Has everyone else been getting spam calls advertising jobs lately?

We thought we'd share a far more appealing advertisement instead…an early 1900s Fry's cocoa enamel sign in the shape of a can!

Something old, something interesting, and with a lot more character than your average cold call!

To anyone that knows us it will come as no surprise that the little Banff ring we bought recently has been donated to Banff Preservation and Heritage Society and Museum of Banff .

We're passionate about keeping local antiques local so now the ring will rest in Banff next to another example and the harness piece we donated earlier in the year.

When an antique piece of furniture comes into your life and you have to redesign the whole living room around it...😄 This gorgeous table hails from around the late 1800s. Its previous family lore tells us that it was hand carved by a talented lady in Fraserburgh whose family had an ironmongery business.
