Studio Botha Studio Botha (formerly Geek Vintique)
Interior design for period homes.

Since 2012, we've been helping homeowners transform Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian properties in Twickenham and beyond into beautiful, comfortable homes suited to modern life.

Thrilled to see my house featured in 25 Beautiful Homes this month (November) - popped the good stuff to celebrate 🍾🫶

We bought this Victorian home in Teddington eight years ago and it was love at first sight for me. As an interior designer it’s an honour to have free creative reign redesigning such a beautiful building - while also getting to enjoy it every day.

Thank you to the fabulous for her gorgeous photography and to for her beautiful write up.

I bought the only two copies of the November issue in Twickenham’s TG Jones (it will always be Smiths to me) but M&S in Teddington still has a few!

Sometimes creating space in your home is simply about using it differently. 🤔

Moving this bijou family kitchen into under-utilised space unlocked the perfect spot for a banquette dining area.

The banquette cushions are now in, just the dining table and final room styling to go.

This lovely client booked an online Design Consultation for advice on updating her 1930s Arts & Crafts-style home.
She loved its character but wasn’t sure how to make the house work better for family life.
In her living room an abundance of windows made furniture placement and window treatments tricky, while the beautiful original timber felt dark and difficult to work with.
I suggested making more of a focal point of the original fireplace by extending the panelling across this entire wall and not having curtains at the (high) windows either side – one of them beautiful stone mullions - leaving them to frame the garden, as if artwork.
Moving the TV to an adjacent wall and repositioning the sofas stops it competing with the fireplace.
These houses celebrated a connection with light and nature so layering the windows with full-length sheer linen, curtain softens the room while allowing views of the garden.
Soft white walls & ceiling allows the natural materials – timber, brick – to shine, while introducing colour and pattern elsewhere adds visual interest and balances those visually dominant features, making them the foundation of the room rather than the problem.
Two-hour Design Consultations are available online wherever you live, or in person locally, for an expert eye and a way forward. Details via link in bio.

Because first impressions aren’t just for guests…
A favourite entrance transformation from a Victorian client project in Kew.
A small space, but an important consideration in how these clients wanted their home to feel. 🩷

This is why we do a strike-off 💪

We’re never reaaly owners of old houses - we’re just custodians for a brief chapter in their much longer story.

Restoring our Victorian façade was always about much more than kerb appeal.

It was about honouring the craftsmanship, materials and character that have quietly endured for almost two centuries, ensuring the building is preserved for future generations.

Original double leaf oak doors repaired & restored: stained glass reinstated and Portland Stone steps cleaned & filled with lime mortar instead of cement. Important decisions that collectively protect the integrity of these remarkable houses.

The privilege of living in a period home comes with a responsibility: to leave it a little better than we found it.

Studio Botha has landed. ☀️
The name change became official this morning. Part of me feels sentimental about saying goodbye to Geek Vintique, which has been with me since the beginning but businesses grow, just like people, and the full-service interior design business I’m running today feels long way from the vintage sourcing & styling that first inspired me in 2012.
While it’s bittersweet to leave behind a name that’s been with me for so many years, I’m also excited about this milestone and all that’s still to come.
A new name - but forever the same person, values & passion behind the business.
Thank you for following along.

If you’ve been put off marble for your kitchen, and told instead to go for Quartz - you’re not alone.
The majority of my clients love the idea of marble but believe it’s not worth the risk, having been told by mainstream kitchen companies that it’s not suitable for kitchen worktops.
I disagree.
What they don’t tell you is that they actually don’t want to work with it, because it requires specialist handling and installation, leaving no room for cheap labour and fast installs.
My latest newsletter Marble Matters: Fact from folklore - explores the pros and cons of marble and explains why its no more high maintenance than owning a car.

Stop wondering what colour to paint your walls. Start thinking how to add depth, dimension and tactility.

Because the most beautiful interiors are built on layers of texture and contrast, not paint alone.

Why your home doesn’t look like your Pinterest board - and it’s not just down to time or money - although they obviously help.

I’ve launched The Considered Home Gap™ a diagnostic framework to identify the drivers of dissatisfaction and inertia around home design, so clients can better understand where their challenges lie and how they can move forward.

If there’s one thing my lovely clients have taught me over the years, it’s that the problems we’ve all faced are pretty universal and share the same causes.

The gaps are - vision, legacy, evolution and curation.

I’ve created a diagnostic tool - let’s call it a questionnaire- to help clients pinpoint the gap they’re in, and how to close it in order to achieve the beautifully considered home they dream of.

To find your gap click the link in bio ⬆️ to the questionnaire.
