A bit of a wildcard from me…

Recently I was asked to paint a kingfisher in response to the wonderful Kingfisher by Rozie Kelly, shortlisted for the 2026 Women’s Prize for Fiction. It’s a very compelling book, and I will say nowt about it so you can find out for yourself.

Today I had the lovely experience of hearing Rozie talk about the book, and my kingfisher finally made its way to her. 🧡💙

I don’t often get asked to respond to a novel with a paintbrush these days, but I absolutely loved this one.

And……paintbrush down! This portrait of Spirals Fairtrade in Hebden Bridge takes flying off the shelves to another level! ☺️

I am now officially on holiday until next Friday. Woohoo! When I come home I have some really lovely commissions to crack on with, which I’m looking forward to starting! But first, that break….

Only 15 minutes left at Art in The Pen and what an absolutely fabulous weekend it’s been! ❤️

So many wonderful conversations, so much lovely engagement with my work, and lots of new connections made.

A huge, HUGE thank you to my gorgeous customers, whether you bought a painting, a print, a card, stopped for a chat or simply spent time looking at my work. It genuinely means such a lot. THANK YOU.

And a massive thank you to the brilliant organisers. This is a HUGE event and the amount of work and project management that must go on behind the scenes to make it all happen is mind-boggling.

Finally, thank you to my fellow artists for making the weekend such a warm, friendly and inspiring place to be. There’s something wonderful about spending a whole weekend surrounded by people who make things.

I’m going home tired, happy and very grateful. ❤️

Only TWO days to go until Art in The Pen in Skipton! 🎨

I’m busy getting everything ready for what promises to be another brilliant Art in the Pen weekend, and my studio currently looks a bit like a bomb has dropped on it with lots of different threads of processing going on, making total sense to me, a nightmare for anyone else 😂

If you’ve never met me before, hello! 👋 I’m Harriet, a freelance illustrator specialising in buildings and house portraits, but with a broad practice that allows me to take on all sorts of wonderfully personal, quirky and imaginative ideas.

For this weekend I’ve been preparing a new range of signed posters, beautifully printed on heavyweight archival paper. Here are just a few of them, including the much-loved bestseller Winter Goddess. ❄️

I’ll also have lots of examples of my building and house portraits with me. A bespoke illustration can make a really special gift, a much-loved home, a place full of memories, or something completely individual that tells a story.

And that’s one of my favourite parts of what I do: hearing your ideas.
