Today I received a DM asking where Bangor is?
I resisted saying “in North Wales unless it’s moved since I lived there!” because they were actually referring to the fourth design of my College Collection: Bangor. I was actually quite taken aback that anyone (you know who you are!) actually remembered this pattern, let alone been waiting for it to reappear!
And the simple answer is that whilst the pattern was published in 2022, I removed it from sale about 2 years ago and it’s been on my major revamp pile ever since!
You see I love the scarf, but it just didn’t photograph well. I tried everything to show it off properly at the time and again when I published the collection’s matching beanie patterns in 2024. And whilst I’m happy with the beanie pattern, I want to launch it when the scarf is ready to be reintroduced.
So how is it going to be changed? I’m going to add in more sections of the two stitch patterns. You see, Bangor is located right by the Menai Straits and Snowdonia and my design combines aspects of the two: a shadow chevron for the mountains and an ocean wave for the Straits and sea. But in the original I went a bit too minimal and have now worked out a way of combining them better to give more texture throughout.
So it’s on my list of patterns to revamp. When will I get round to it? Hopefully it’ll be in January of next year, but it will depend how my new pattern plans go for the rest of the year. But rest assured I haven’t forgotten about it!
