Four years after renovating the lower ground floor of this home, which included a kitchen and lounge area (see Fulham Broadway Part 1), I was pleased to redesign the three upper floors. My clients owned several much-loved antique pieces that they wished to showcase. I introduced contemporary furniture and decorative lighting to bring a modern flair to the space, along with wall mouldings to enhance its character. An opening was created between the entrance and the sitting room, allowing natural light to brighten the previously dark and narrow hallway. In the small office, I suggested a panoramic wallpaper to add perspective and make the room feel more inviting and cosy. Pleased to share our last completed project: Northcote House in London, Clapham. I had a big crush on this property from the first time I visited it, even though it hadn't been renovated for almost forty years. It was wider than usual, and the original ceiling mouldings in the existing reception rooms were simply incredible. We decided to rework the layout entirely, moving the kitchen and dining area to the front of the house and having a spacious and extended living room with a garden view. Some of the original cornices that couldn't be kept were carefully copied and reproduced. A large storage space was created in the hallway. Among my favourites are the new blue kitchen and its fluted panels, the internal steel window that brings natural light to the hallway, the cosy dining area facing a coffee bar corner, the wall mural in the master bedroom, and the children's bedrooms. Years ago, my clients did significant work in their home, such as renovating the kitchen and creating a large basement floor, but they didn't do much in the living room. After a few years spent in the house, it was time for another makeover. They wanted to solve some issues: lack of storage for coats and shoes, not enough space for the books, a hallway that felt a bit dark, etc. The first decision was to form an opening between the living room and the narrow entrance and to implement a Crittall-style window. A new front door with glazed panes was installed. I took out floor space from the second part of the living room to create cupboards and a bench area on the corridor side. I also designed a large bookcase with a desk and advised on colours, curtains, flooring and a few pieces of furniture to complement the existing ones. The ground floor now looks cohesive with blue accents throughout. Photos Veronica Rodriguez.
