Soooo, what do we think about the book cover design? 💭 📚📗

I wanted the design to feel clean and simple while staying true to my green colour theme. To create consistency between the front cover and the interior pages, I added small circles beneath the main image to represent each chapter. The central image is an original painting I created specifically for the book and it also links to a YouTube video that guides readers through the painting process.

My studio is soaking up the sun and it’s a SAUNA in here! 🥵

Yesterday I started creating the front cover and I was having a great time, I was so absorbed in it but then had to stop to go to work, boo. It’s starting to feel more real the closer it is to being finished, it’s so exciting!

Il also spend some time reading over and editing the book itself. I’ve already done this many many times but I just want it to be perfect 👌🏻

(If you haven’t seen my lastest post, I’m writing a book for beginners. It’s called Landscape Painting for Beginners: Oil Painting Fundamentals. It’s a simple step by step guide that teaches you all about values, composition, perspective, colour theory and soooo much more. It covers absolutely everything to get you started in your art journey where you will be able to apply these principles straight away and see instant results. It’s primarily for oil painting but it’s suitable for all mediums as it’s all about art fundamentals!).

I’m writing a book! 📚

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always dreamed of doing two things: painting landscapes and writing a book.

At first, I didn’t know what I’d write my book on. But it makes sense to me now. Nearly six years later, I can finally say i’m writing a book that teaches others how to paint. It’s called Landscape Painting for Beginners: Oil Painting Fundamentals.

This book has been months in the making and is now so close to being finished. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this book. I’ve deep dived into everything I know about art and painting to help you on your way and I truly hope it does just that.

Whether you’re completely new to art or just starting your creative journey, this book is written to help you build strong painting foundations with practical, easy-to-follow guidance. And while the focus is on oil painting, the core art principles apply across all mediums.

The book includes everything from materials, breaking down a landscape, perspective, composition, values, colour theory and so on. It’s full of images and visuals to help you too.

I’m writing the book I wish I had when I first started. One that makes learning art feel fun, exciting, approachable and achievable.

I can’t wait to share it with you. Give me another month or so and you might just be able to buy it on Amazon 🙂

90’s Nostaglia Oil Painting 🦖🤪

I’ve finally finished this little painting of these iconic toys every 90’s kid remembers. I wanted to try something new and challenge myself and came across some old toys while tidying up one day and thought, why not?

I wasn’t sure how it would turn out as this is my first attempt of a still life painting but I’m actually really proud of myself and it’s turned out better than I could ever imagine! I learned so much about colour mixing and still life composition. These are definitely new skills I can take into future paintings. I’d say this piece took around 60 hours. I used more paint than I could ever image just getting those colour mixtures right but it was worth it. Also, who decided to attempt to paint a transparent jar? 😂 I must be crazy.

I’m thinking of getting some prints done of this one?
