☀️Heatwave Update ☀️

Due to the current heatwave, I'm not taking any more orders for this week.

Right now, my priority is doing everything I can to protect my cutting flower patch from the extreme temperatures. There has been a lot of extra watering and providing as much shade as possible, but unfortunately I'm expecting to lose some flowers.

I'll reassess everything over the next few days to see if weekend orders will be possible. I'll contact all customers on Thursday evening (likely quite late) to confirm what the plan is.

I'm so sorry that it will be such short notice, but I'm sure you'll understand that the weather is completely out of my control.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. 💐

🌹 My First David Austin Rose of the Year 🌹

A little later than some of the other roses in the garden, but definitely worth the wait.

Today, the first David Austin rose of the season has opened its beautiful petals, revealing those soft buttery-yellow tones and the full, romantic blooms they're so loved for. 💛

Sometimes the best things take a little longer. While other roses have already been putting on a show, this beauty has been quietly gathering strength before making its grand entrance.

One of the things I love most about growing flowers is that each variety blooms in its own time. There's no rushing nature, and when a flower finally opens, it feels all the more special.

Here's to the start of another season filled with gorgeous roses, garden surprises, and plenty of blooms for future Petals By The Shore creations. 🌿

Can we all take a
moment to appreciate my ambitious little veggie patch? 🌱

The carrot crop was less "abundance" and more "survival of the fittest" – only about eight made it. The tomatoes are looking promising, the cucumber plant is an absolute overachiever, and we've already harvested three cucumbers, one of which was enthusiastically approved by Hagrid the tortoise. 🐢🥒

Meanwhile, growing better than anything I've actually planted... a stinging nettle. 🌿🙈

Sometimes gardening is less about perfection and more about enjoying the journey, celebrating the wins, and accepting that Mother Nature has a great sense of humour.

I'll be at Bleadon Market this weekend with a small selection of my homegrown flowers. 🌸

The flower patch is producing beautifully, but I've been busy creating funeral tributes and floral hatboxes recently, which means I'll have a more limited number of fresh-cut blooms available than usual.

As always, every stem has been grown with care here in Somerset and picked fresh for the market. If you're looking for a bouquet, be sure to pop by early as once they're gone, they're gone!

Thank you for supporting locally grown flowers and my small business. I can't wait to see some familiar faces and meet new ones too. 💐

See you at Bleadon Market! 🌿

🌿 Flowers Grown with Meaning 🌿

There is something truly special about flowers grown close to home.

Every stem in this arrangement has been carefully selected, many lovingly grown locally, nurtured through the seasons and gathered at just the right moment. Unlike imported flowers that may travel thousands of miles, locally grown blooms carry a story of the place they came from, the hands that cared for them, and the memories they help create.

When flowers are chosen to celebrate a life, they become so much more than a bouquet. They are a reflection of love, remembrance, gratitude and the moments shared. Knowing those flowers were grown with care, in the same community they are honouring, adds an extra layer of meaning.

At Petals By The Shore, I believe farewell flowers should feel personal, thoughtful and full of heart. Every arrangement is created with care, using seasonal blooms wherever possible, to tell a unique story and celebrate a life beautifully lived.

My First Dahlia of the Season! 😃

There's something so special about spotting that very first dahlia bloom of the year.

After weeks of watering, feeding, and patiently waiting, this beautiful pink flower has finally opened its petals. 💕

The garden is just beginning to wake up, with plenty more buds waiting for their turn to shine. If this first bloom is anything to go by, it's going to be a colourful season ahead!

Watching plants grow from tiny shoots into stunning flowers never gets old. Thank you for following along on this gardening journey with me. 🌿

A little thank you to everyone who saves unwanted pots and trays for me. 🌱

I absolutely love giving them a second life and putting them back to work growing flowers and plants. There's something so satisfying about reusing what might otherwise be thrown away.

I'm always happy to collect and receive any spare pots, trays, or plant containers you no longer need. After all, when you're growing flowers, you can never have enough pots! 🌸😂

Thank you for helping me grow a little more sustainably while building up my ever-expanding pot collection. 💚

I'm back open and ready for all orders!
The second thing I did when we got home was head out to cut some of my sweet peas.

They've done amazingly well so far and I've got some lovely long stems and the scents are amazing.
The colours are gorgeous too – a beautiful mix of blues, pinks and purples. 💐
