Somerset Day celebrates the heritage, craftsmanship and community that make our county so special.
Held each year on 11th May, the date marks King Alfred the Great raising his Saxon army in Somerset in 878 AD before defeating the Vikings at the Battle of Edington — a defining moment in English history.
Today, it’s a celebration of everything we love about Somerset; from rolling countryside to stunning coastlines, pretty villages to historic towns, plus all the independent businesses, farming heritage and traditional craftsmanship.
As a proudly Somerset-based manufacturer, we’re incredibly grateful to design and create our products here in the South West.
And of course… you know you’re born and bred Somerset when:
• “Proper job” is part of your everyday vocabulary
• A tractor can completely alter your journey plans
• You measure distance in minutes, not miles
• You own a coat specifically for “just popping outside”
• You know Cheddar is a village before it’s a cheese
• You believe cider is practically a food group
Happy Somerset Day 🤍
