“A Face, a Memory” 2025 … two pieces: Blue Lady 2022 & Blue Trees 2020, were placed together by chance when I was tidying my small works away last week. I impulsively decided to make them a diptych and to re-title to this, that I’ve used quite a few times since the mid 70s! I’m happy to end the year with this reflective piece as it perfectly marries my figurative and landscape works.

This was a tiny ACEO painting 6x9cm, from way back in early 2008… I’ve just had a message from my sister Mary reminding me of it … the apple tree in my garden has produced a bountiful crop this year - the apples are a delightful sweet pink, delicious baked with cinnamon in my airfryer, then served with Greek yoghurt 🍎💛

UPDATE : SOLD today to a dear friend & collector of my work for many years 🙂 🙏🏼 …

Looking back at older paintings … I’m very pleased with this new little tray frame to present “L’arbre En Hiver”2010(Tree in Winter) is gold acrylic & frottage of 3B graphite on Japanese paper, applied to a 20cm canvas. I’d not shown the backs of canvasses in a framed situ before - I have to say I like it not being ‘closed away’ ! 🤔 Nice for the original title, signature etc to be viewable!

Finished today … Angel born from the Moon leaving a fine crescent (not sure of the title of it as yet!). It’s on a 20x20cm canvas board painted in W&N Acrylics in my favourite Turquoise, Burnt Sienna & White. Progression pics showing first sketches, where she changed position from a dancer in adulation of the moonlight, to a much needed angel zooming down to join us on Earth. Studio photos show in progress pics & final shot is probable frame presentation in one of these excellent tray frames made by my son Uisliu who’s a framer in London.

The first photo is from early 2000s, when he was tucked under her hair, whispering to her forever … but now, sadly these lovers are separated - by frost! Having just started carving back then I didn’t realise that frost would damage the limestone, so the garden placement took its toll that winter. She’s been in the garden all these years hence her weathered appearance (last pic) - but he’s been hidden away in the shed, and I’d forgotten that I’d tidied his broken edges a couple of years ago - so here he is today in a new setting outside. A few weeks ago I posted photographs of her new position in a nook in the ivy. However, I think we should find a place for him close by to her or maybe beside her. 💞 ❤️
