The appearance of these little beauties is always welcome, still winter but heralding the move towards spring. Soon our local National Trust property Kingston Lacy will be carpeted with their famous Snowdrop collection.

I’m teaching two workshops there on how to stencil print snowdrops and other beautiful spring flowers in early February.

Both have sold out, but if you’re wanting to enjoy some seasonal creativity I have courses starting in mid March…after a much needed knee operation…so keep watching this space for updates on courses.

Oouff I’ve been busy designing and prototyping stencil printed and sewn products to have ready for sale as at 🪡🧵 Getting things just right 👌🏻 takes fooooreverrr 🤦🏼‍♀️
But I’m at last pleased with these glasses cases… so you’ll find them in my little display area at the Mill, which is looking fabulous at the moment , filled with hand made Christmas presents ✨

Throughout this year I’ve been asked if I make items to sell… and now the answer is yes! I bought myself a pre-loved sewing machine and now it’s full on making.
Obviously with Christmas just around the corner I’m concentrating on items that can be bought as thoughtful gifts. Anyone like a relaxing lavender eye pillow? 🌿
All stencil printed by moi … I wish you could smell them.
These little aromatic beauties will be heading into tomorrow.

Sometimes less is more!
I really enjoy working with the stencils and using just one colour to print with, I think it allows the personality of the shapes to do their thing, more so than when several colours are involved. When designing the stencils I’m always mindful of how they would print up in just a single colour, always trying to ensure there is variety and visual rhythm.
You can always see the shapes playing out in the natural chaos of grasses and wild flowers 🌾

Feeling somewhat seasonally discombobulated - I’ve been working on a stencilling course project for March 2026 over the past few days. It’s secret 🐿️ at the moment 🤫🤐 but hopefully I’ll be able to share more with you in the New Year.

I’m always fascinated by the very obvious checkerboard pattern on the Snakehead Fritillary flowers, feeling quite pleased with how they are printing up.

I’ve made a wee bit more time for the other boot embroidery, and appreciating the changing colours of the plants in the garden. The dying Sedum flowers still look gorgeous IMO

Embroidery and slow stitching helps to calm my overly busy brain 🧵🪡 and here’s a little project that I’ve recently started on for myself. Nothing to do with prep for stencil printing workshops, just a moment of quiet focused time for me.
One boot 🥾 completed… and now I’m working on the other, so watch this space.
