A timeless choice with plenty of character.

For this project, we installed Brampton Chase Studio Designs European Oak in Herringbone throughout the ground floor, creating a beautifully cohesive finish across the space.

The natural oak tones and classic herringbone pattern bring warmth, texture and a sense of elegance, while the practical benefits of LVT make it a fantastic choice for busy areas of the home.

Herringbone remains a firm favourite for a reason, it's a timeless pattern that works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Another beautifully finished ground floor by the DH Flooring team.

Timeless design, beautifully considered ✨

A beautifully curved staircase deserves a flooring solution that complements its shape, while adding comfort, practicality and a little something extra.

For this prestigious home, we created a striking combination of carpet treads and LVT risers, a considered alternative to a fully carpeted staircase that offers excellent underfoot comfort and grip, while creating a much more distinctive finish. Running over budget at the end of a project, doesn’t mean you have to compromise on your final finishes…there are always options. Enter our signature LVT risers, carpet treads 😍

Project specification:
▫️ Abingdon Captivation in Linen Wash to Bedrooms 1–5 (excluding the Dressing Room/Snug), landing and staircase treads
▫️ Black LVT staircase risers with a bespoke vertical polished gold feature strip inlay
▫️ 11mm Thermal & Acoustic Underlay for added comfort and sound reduction
▫️ Stairrods Premier trims in Polished Brass to complete the installation

It's the combination of materials, careful detailing and precise installation that makes this staircase really stand out. Beautiful flooring, expertly installed.

Meet CJ….our Chief of Zen

Calm, dependable and an increasingly accomplished installer, CJ has become an enormous part of DH Flooring. He consistently turns out work we’re proud to put our name to, never stops developing his skills and somehow manages to remain remarkably unflappable while the rest of us are juggling the moving parts of running a small business.

He’s a constant source of fun, our rock when we need him and, quite simply, one of the biggest cogs in our little clock. And he’s not a bad footballer either 😉

This is a question we’re asked regularly, "Should my wood floor be installed before my kitchen is fitted?" And the answer is no, your kitchen units should be fitted first.

Wood flooring naturally expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity, so it needs room to move. Heavy kitchen units, islands and stone worktops can restrict that movement if they’re installed directly on top of the floor, potentially causing problems further down the line.

That’s why we recommend getting the kitchen in place first, leaving the appropriate gaps around units and end panels so the flooring can be installed neatly underneath.

Good flooring starts with getting the preparation and installation right. It’s the details that help your floor perform as it should for years to come.

And here it is… the finished result 🤎

Following on from our recent progress post, we’re delighted to share the completed flooring installation featuring Brampton Chase Studio Designs Natural Oiled Oak in Herringbone.

The herringbone pattern adds beautiful character and definition, while the natural oak tones create a warm, timeless finish that flows seamlessly from room to room.

From the initial preparation and careful layout through to the final installation, every detail was considered to achieve a beautifully consistent finish throughout the space.

The start of another transformation… 🤎

Here’s a little look at this project in progress, as we began installing Brampton Chase Studio Designs Natural Oiled Oak in Herringbone throughout the lounge, hall, utility cupboard, kitchen and WC.

Herringbone is always a timeless choice, bringing texture, character and a sense of detail to a space. Getting the layout and installation right takes precision, patience and plenty of attention to detail, especially when flowing through multiple rooms.

These photos show the flooring taking shape, but there’s still a little way to go…

Today is World Mental Health Day 💙

A reminder that looking after your mental health is every bit as important as looking after your physical health.

Our industry is physically demanding, but it can also be incredibly stressful and mentally draining; Not just on the tools, but behind the scenes too.

Between us, we’ve spent decades working in and around this industry, and times have changed. Clients increasingly expect more for less. Quality control on commercial sites has declined. Site work has become a numbers game. And too often, price is prioritised over quality, skill and service.

For tradespeople trying to earn a living, provide for their families and take pride in doing a genuinely good job, that pressure can become relentless. And over the years, we’ve learnt first-hand just how much running your own business can take from you.

We certainly won’t be the first to have questioned why on earth we chose this path, and we won’t be the last.

So today, check in. Have the conversation. Ask someone how they’re really doing. And if you’re the one struggling, please don’t assume you have to carry it quietly. Our door is always open.

And the next time a tradesperson crosses your threshold, make them a cup of tea. Pay them on time. Leave them a review. Say thank you when they’ve done a good job.

They may seem like tiny gestures, but you have absolutely no idea how much those small acts might mean to the person receiving them 💙

New around here? Let us reintroduce ourselves… 👋🏼

We’re Dave and Rachelle, the husband and wife team behind DH Flooring, based in Berkshire.

Our working relationship actually began back in 2001, when we both started working for one of the largest new-build flooring installers in the South East.

14 years later, we decided we quite liked each other outside of work too. And just three months after our first date (because apparently, we don’t do things by halves), we took the leap and created DH Flooring in 2015.

Fast forward to today and that little business has grown into something we’re incredibly proud of, with a reputation built through years of hard work, attention to detail and, most importantly, genuinely looking after our clients.

Dave is the technical expertise behind DH Flooring.

A formally qualified floor layer and registered member of the NICF, he specialises in LVT, subfloor preparation and carpet installation, bringing decades of practical experience and technical knowledge to every project.

He sets exceptionally high standards for himself and for our team. Nothing is “that’ll do”. The preparation underneath matters just as much as the finished floor you see on top, and he’s never stopped learning, refining his skills or pushing for better. It’s a genuine pride in his craft, our business and the people we’ve invested in.

Rachelle is the organisational whizz behind the scenes.

With 25 years of flooring industry experience spanning project management, product knowledge and client experience, she’s responsible for making what can feel like a daunting process remarkably straightforward.

From that very first conversation through to product selection, design, installation and aftercare, she makes sure the options we recommend aren’t simply beautiful; they’re practical, appropriate for your home and considered against your budget.

And then she makes sure everything is organised, communicated and running as smoothly as humanly possible. Spreadsheets may be involved 😉

Thinking about redoing your bathroom? Have you considered vinyl flooring? 👀

Vinyl can be a fantastic choice for bathrooms, offering a practical and durable flooring solution without having to compromise on style.

For this project, we installed Baroque Rubens Green Vinyl, bringing a gorgeous patterned finish into the space. The rich green design adds character and personality, creating a real feature from what could otherwise be an overlooked part of the room.

Finished with a Stairrods Premier Finish Door Bar in Antique Brass, the final detail ties the look together beautifully.

If you're planning a bathroom renovation, don't overlook the floor, it can completely transform the feel of the space.

Continuing with this beautiful project from our last post, as well as installing Freedom in Tissue throughout the bedrooms, landing and cupboards, we carried the same carpet through onto the stairs, creating a lovely sense of continuity throughout the home.

To add a little extra detail and durability, LVT was fitted to the riser of the bottom step, creating a subtle contrast between the two flooring finishes while giving this high-traffic area a practical and beautifully finished touch.
