Most people don’t need more Pinterest boards.

They need someone to take the overwhelm away.

When this client came to me, they wanted to update both their bedroom and spare room but didn’t want the stress of managing the process themselves.

From the initial design concepts through to coordinating trades and overseeing the project, my role was to make the experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible.

One of the nicest pieces of feedback I received was:

Proof bedrooms don’t have to be painted beige to be relaxing!

Would you dare paint your bedroom this dark? 👀

One of the biggest myths in interior design is that dark colours make rooms feel smaller.

Used correctly, deeper tones can create a cocooning, luxurious feel that makes a bedroom feel calm and restful.

This primary bedroom at Joseph Terry Grove combines olive panelling, warm wood tones and soft textures to create a space that feels both sophisticated and welcoming.

Plot twist: even interior designers don’t always get it right first time. 🙈

I’ve spent days looking at the studio knowing something wasn’t quite working. I could explain colour psychology, undertones and balance to a client all day long… but when it’s your own space, it’s a different story.

Then I started noticing the same colour everywhere.

Books. Furniture. Fabrics. Random objects around the house.

Mushroom was clearly trying to tell me something. 🤎

So, here I am, mixing another batch of paint and embracing the fact that great design isn’t about never changing your mind its about knowing when a space is asking for something better.

Anyone else endlessly tweak their own home while confidently advising everyone else? 😅

The finished result ✨

This project was never about making the space feel overly styled or “designer perfect”. It was about creating atmosphere, nostalgia and somewhere people would instantly feel comfortable in.

The old photos, collected pieces and layered details helped give the sports bar real personality and soul, the kind of spaces people actually remember.

Character over perfection every time.

Modern interiors can sometimes feel a little too polished… a little too perfect.

For this sports bar project, I wanted it to feel layered, nostalgic and full of personality, somewhere people genuinely connect with and remember.

Old photos, memorabilia, worn textures and meaningful details tell a story. That’s what gives a space soul.

Character will always win over copying trends for me.
