Cheesy Ground Beef Rice Casserole
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups beef broth or water
- 1 onion, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: vegetables like peas or bell peppers
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). A hot oven ensures a beautifully baked casserole.
Step 2: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and the chopped onion over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Be sure to drain any excess fat to keep the dish light.
Step 3: In a big mixing bowl, combine the beef mixture with the uncooked rice, cream of mushroom soup, beef broth (or water), and any optional vegetables you choose to include. Don’t forget to season it with salt and pepper to enhance those flavors!
Step 4: Pour this delicious mixture into a greased casserole dish, making sure it’s evenly distributed.
Step 5: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
Step 6: After 30 minutes, remove the casserole from the oven. Give it a good stir, then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously on top.
Step 7: Return the casserole to the oven uncovered and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Your kitchen will smell amazing!
Step 8: Once it’s out of the oven, let it cool slightly before serving. It’s perfect as a main dish or even as leftovers for lunch the next day.
