Rush Grass New Year Decoration
A traditional Japanese New Year decoration made from natural rush grass, designed to bring purity, calm, positive energy into the home and welcome good fortune.
The scientific name of rush grass, Juncus, comes from a word meaning “to tie.”
It represents connection, unity, and the strengthening of relationships.
For this reason, rush grass is considered an auspicious material in Japanese culture, symbolising harmony, stability, and well-being.
After the festive season, the mizuhiki knot can be removed and the grass placed in a vase, allowing it to continue serving as a natural home accent throughout the year.
Function & Benefits:
• Naturally deodorises the air
• Helps regulate indoor humidity
• Releases a subtle, relaxing natural fragrance
• Can be trimmed to the desired length
• Suitable for multiple spaces: entrance, living room, bedroom, or bathroom
Non-dyed rush grass can also be used as diffuser reeds.
