Excited to announce my upcoming showcase, IN CYCLES, taking place at the lovely Touch of Salt — a calm, inspiring studio cafe tucked away in the heart of Fitzrovia 🌿

Returning to London, where my ceramic path first took root, feels like coming full circle. This exhibition bridges my past and present, bringing together the marbled porcelain collection I first began over a decade ago alongside my natural-dyed ceramics developed from Japan, and my latest research into circular practices using reclaimed ceramic waste.

Places where I’ve spent meaningful chapters of my life.

Coming back to them always feels like catching up with an older version of myself while discovering new perspective, new materials, and new ways to create.

After wrapping up my exhibition in Hong Kong, I’m back in London, right where I first fell in love with clay.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been quietly exploring a more sustainable approach — testing circular processes in the studio and working to give discarded ceramics a second life✨♻️

Beyond wood-fired and naturally dyed ceramics...

Weaving together twelve years of practice spanning London, Hong Kong, and Japan, the exhibition steps into the “afterlife” of my signature marbling technique — gathering discarded porcelain remnants from The Perfect Imbalance and reshaping them into fresh, organic structures.

整理這十二年間在倫敦、香港與日本三地的創作脈絡，這次展覽也試著探索我一直以來所使用的絞胎技術的「Afterlife」—— 重新收拾過去製作《The Perfect Imbalance 平・行》系列時留下的黑白瓷屑，讓這些絞胎餘料重獲第二次生命，組合成不一樣的形態。

I deliberately chose summer to host this exhibition.

Stepping into this specific period of contrast— a time when the intensity of the summer heat makes us deeply aware of our planet, but also the vibrant season where we can connect with what the earth provides🌱

Born from a deep love for our local farmers, I am so grateful to bring 好老土 Good Old Soil and 土饒學社 Farm SOILution into 𝐳𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 through a seasonal menu that weaves this local harvest directly into the exhibition experience.

If you’ve never tasted local pineapple grown right in Mui Wo, you definitely don’t want to miss our special dessert! We’re also serving refreshing hibiscus soda to cool you down and nourish you on these humid days :)

Lately, besides busy crafting ceramics, I’ve also dived into the 2D world!

Being able to cross paths and collaborate with an old university friend is something I’ve really been looking forward to. After all, holding onto your creative practice in the real world after graduation is easier said than done.

These past few years, me and Nicholas MF shared honest conversations about navigating creative blocks, balancing passion with commercial reality, and our footprint on this earth.

Turning these questions into a magical realism sci-fi story gave us the room to breathe, build, and dream a little more, capturing the shared experiences of our time while leaving room for imagination.

This exhibition brings it all together.
Alongside the debut of this graphic novel, I am very excited to share with you all my latest ceramic and installation works.

最近在工作室埋頭苦幹，除了造陶，還跳進了平面世界。

能夠與大學讀設計的朋友cross paths，在創作路上互相打氣，對我來說是一件非常值得珍惜的事。畢竟畢業後在現實社會中，能夠繼續堅持創作的人，似乎少之又少。

十幾年前 Nicholas MF 收藏我第一套 The Perfect Imbalance 作品時，沒想到十幾年後他會出一本圖像小說，將我與作品都畫進了故事裡。

這幾年，我們分享了許多真實的想法，關於如何走過創作的瓶頸、在純粹熱愛與商業現實之間拉扯，以及我們留在這個地球上的 footprint。

然後，將現實世界的種種疑問轉化為一個魔幻寫實的科幻故事，反而給了我們喘息與建立的空間，去記載這個時代的掙扎，也容下更多想像。

這次的展覽終於可以與大家分享，除了是這部圖像小說的發表，也會同步展出我的全新陶藝與藝術裝置作品🍃

土地從不是沉默的。

泥土擁有記憶，它在萬物更迭間聆聽，默默凝視著人類留下的無形痕跡。如果泥土會說話，它大概會向我們訴說人與自然最原始的依存，以及那些被我們遺忘的腳步。

《ROAD TO GAIA 大地的迴音》內含兩個平行宇宙的靜謐交匯，由陶藝家湯凱恩（Amanda Tong ）與圖像小說家風明中（Nicholas MF）共同呈現。

Amanda在日本信樂町駐留期間，選擇將創作交託給自然元素。她跳出了常規的技法框架，順應著柴燒窯火與天然染料的無常，讓陶器表面流淌出富有生命力的色彩。本次香港展覽，不僅展示其工藝思維的演變，更呈現了環境關懷如何悄然介入，重塑了她的創作步調與看待世界的維度。

這份對土地的感知，成了 Nicholas 筆下圖像小說的靈感泉源。畫筆作為工藝的敘事鏡像，在魔幻寫實的架構中讓泥土與人對話，映射出每個人在大地中的身分追尋，同時凝視人類在對抗生命渺小時的執念——以及文明的衰落與重建。

隨四季更迭，萬物變幻的痕跡無處不在
—— 既是歷史的印記，也是對未來的一面鏡子。

在這個自然與想像交融的空間裡，誠邀你放慢腳步，聆聽大地的迴響，在萬物的更迭中，重新感知我們與地球相依的溫度。

The Earth is never silent.

Soil holds memory, witnessing the traces humanity leaves behind. If the earth could speak, it would tell us of our oldest bond with nature — and of the footsteps we’ve long forgotten.

In 《ROAD TO GAIA 大地的迴音》, two parallel universes intersect, co-presented by ceramicist Amanda Tong and graphic novelist Nicholas MF.

During her residency in Shigaraki, Japan, Amanda let natural elements lead, embracing the unpredictability of wood firing and natural dyes to allow living colours emerge on clay. This exhibition traces her craft’s evolution and how environmental care reshaped her way of seeing the world.

That deep listening became the spark for Nicholas’s graphic novel. Acting as a narrative counterpart, his pages turn her journey into an imaginative sci-fi world, mapping humanity’s search for belonging and reflecting on how we persist in the face of fragility and impermanence.

As the seasons turn, the traces of changing worlds are everywhere — an imprint of history, and a mirror for the future.

In this sanctuary of nature and imagination, we invite you to slow down, listen to the echoes of the earth, and reawaken to the living pulse beneath us.

During my artist residency in Shigaraki, I had this sudden reality check: if my daily habits don’t line up with the message behind my art, it all feels a bit hollow.

聊到環境大自然這種創作是一回事
在生活裡真正去實踐又是另一回事

在信樂町駐村時我有了很深的體會
如果生活方式沒對齊想傳遞的訊息
我想自己是沒辦法做出好作品來的

對回收的執着我是從日本學回來的
所以發現駐村內沒太多回收設施時
看著可用物料被焚燒我實在不忍心
變成讓地球升溫的溫室氣體排放掉
於是便動手搭了一個臨時的回收站
開始把分類好的塑膠和紙張裝成袋
散步幾分鐘搬去附近環保站當運動

一開始實行確實有點氣餒有點沮喪
清潔員工不了解轉頭又把回收扔掉
俾咁靚嘅大自然包圍無力感卻很重
讓我坐在那裡重新反思來這的目的
到底在專心創作與好好照顧地球間
身為創作者該怎麼找到一個平衡點

慢慢藝術家朋友主動幫手加入行列
幫忙分擔重量（真的超級感謝他們)
這也開啟了很多很棒的對話與交流
我才發現原來大家都想要這個系統
特別是那些習慣回收卻沒說出口的
漸漸地清潔人員和員工都一起參與
說真的那時候心裡滿滿的都是感動

這世界總讓我們以為自己無能為力
但親眼看著微小的改變在眼前發生
那正是能讓我繼續相信下去的動力

我們的創作無法與環境的影響分開
那段看似微不足道的過程沉澱下來
成了這次七月香港展覽最好的養分

Giving new life to old materials.

A foundational part of these new material explorations involves reclaiming and recycling porcelain from my previous black-and-white marbled works ♻️

For me, working with clay comes with a quiet responsibility. When we take a material from the earth, I try to stay mindful of its footprint, minimizing waste during the making process and allowing what remains to find a second life.

Spending time reclaiming my black and white marbled porcelain is a slow process, but it means nothing is wasted — just waiting for its next form ✨

在實驗新材料和新燒法的過程裡
很重要的一環是回收與重新利用
那些來自過去黑白作品的舊瓷土

對我來說玩泥也包含了一份責任
在製作過程思考如何可減少廢料
讓剩餘的物料再一次能夠被使用

重新回收瓷泥的步驟雖然花時間
但這能確保沒有東西被真正浪費
它們只是在等待下一個形態出現

古い素材に、新しい命を。�

今回取り組んでいる新しい素材へのアプローチとして、過去の白黒のマーブル作品の磁土を回収し、リサイクルする作業を行っています♻️

私にとって、土と向き合うことには静かな責任が伴います。地球から素材をいただくからこそ、環境への影響に目を向け、制作中の無駄をできるだけ減らしたい。ものづくりの過程で残ったものにもう一度新しい命を吹き込みたい、そう考えています。

白黒のマーブルの磁土をゆっくりと再生させていく作業は、何ひとつ無駄にすることなく、次の形へと生まれ変わるのを静かに待つ大切な時間でもあります✨

For me, natural-dye on ceramics captures a specific cross-section of time and space.

They preserve an exact season and place, coloured by the fallen leaves and branches of a particular tree.🌳

Sakura is most praised for its blossom, yet its leaves hold an unexpected depth. As I gather these fallen leaves, I find myself reflecting on their life cycle — a reminder that every stage of life has its own unique beauty.

It feels like fate whenever these natural materials land in my hands. Instead of letting them fade away, I want to give them another stage to shine, honouring the colours of that fleeting moment. 🍂

天然染的作品記錄了當下的時空
記下了那個季節和那個特定地方
用某棵樹落下的枯枝落葉所染成

大家都很喜歡看櫻花盛開的樣子
但其實櫻花的樹葉也很有層次感
每次一邊撿著這些掉下來的落葉
就會一邊想到它們這段生命循環

生命的每個階段🍃
其實都擁有屬於它自己獨特的美

當這些天然物料有緣地來到我手
就想著不如給這些棄物多個舞台
希望可以透過這一次次的植物染
留住它們在那個當下最美的顏色
