For a long time, my crafts centered around black and white porcelain. It was my way of exploring the balance of Yin and Yang, watching two opposing colours intersect and find their own natural flow.

Yet, stepping into natural dyes has invited a different rhythm into studio. It asks me to match nature’s quiet pace, step back, and patiently wait for the elements to move on their own.

It is a quiet alchemy. A gentle reminder to observe, trust the process, and let nature reveal the colours that have always been hidden right in front of us.

/𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅…/

My brother has always lived what I can only describe as a legendary story. A decade ago, while I studied ceramics in London, he was at Oxford completing a Master’s in Physics—graduating with first honours. Everyone thought he’d be a scientist(?)
Well instead, he followed his heart into the grueling culinary world. Watching him bravely carve his own path against the grain has always inspired me.

Whenever I feel exhausted in my own creative journey, thinking of him persevering in his corner of the world pushes me to keep going ❤️‍🔥

Eleven years of dedication later, seeing his dream come to life is deeply moving — . We are so incredibly grateful for the warmth and love the Sydney community has shown his team since the opening🥂

🍂You’ll find my natural-dyed ceramic collection now lives inside my brother’s restaurant, celebrating the beautiful transience of seasons.

If you ever find yourself in Sydney, please visit South End✨ I hope you get to feel my work alongside his beautiful dishes ◡̈

Supper Club
3-course menu

Clove Club
Belon

New Town

Deep gratitude to everyone who joined our tea ceremony, visited the exhibition, and chose to take a piece of our ceramic art home 🕊️

This past weekend was a beautiful celebration of cultural exchange, revealing the fascinating diversity within tea traditions. We captured so many cherished memories — none more touching than witnessing a heartwarming family reunion and watching the students gracefully serve tea back to Keiko-sensei and Masando San.

Thank you for sharing these serene moments with us.

Until next time 🍵✨

一次偶遇下認識了@hiragane_masando

On 24 May, join for a Japanese Tea Ceremony with Keiko-sensei, featuring my wood-fired pieces created in Shigaraki and Masando-san’s Ido chawans —a valuable experience not to miss!

In chawan culture, there’s a saying from Sen no Rikyu and other tea masters about the ranking of tea ware: “First Ido, Second Raku, Third Karatsu.

Ido chawan — a significant Kōrai chawan from the Korean peninsula — began as everyday ware for Korean peasants, and became cherished in wabicha for its humble rustic character and subtly uneven form.

During my Shigaraki artist residency last year, I was grateful to meet Masando-san—learning not only about his Ido chawan, but meeting with the local community(chefs). During dinner, I felt their dedication, passion, and perseverance in pursuing what they love.

Holding Masando-san’s chawan in my hands, I felt their overflowing enthusiasm, and I’m so glad to be able to share this experience with you in Hong Kong.

Guests joining the tea ceremony will be able to us汴京茶寮 Tealosophy Hong Kong’s Ido chawan and my latest works to enjoy matcha🍵🍂

Alongside creating new works and meeting inspiring artists, my time with local communities has been equally precious🌱

/𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝒏‑𝑩𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏𝒔/

After a busy winter coaching snowboarding, I enjoy this quiet transition period before diving back into studio work — that gentle gap between seasons.

A space to reflect on what’s passed and to gently plan the year ahead, map out meaningful projects and ideas that deepen connection to our land, crafts and local community.

It’s a small, deliberate slowing so my work and energy flow where they should.

Listening for the next honest direction.

Do you, too, notice the value of these small pauses? 💭

〜〜〜
