【 Chow’s Sauce Shop 】When we think of soy sauce, bean pastes and chili sauces, major commercial brands and supermarket aisles often come to mind first. However, alongside these dominant players, many small, family-run condiment shops once thrived, crafting and selling pantry staples, each presenting their own unique specialties rooted in experience and tradition 🫙🥄🫚🌶️
One such shop was Chow Kee, founded in the late-2000s by Billy Chow’s father, who brought over four decades of sauce-making experience to the table. Now taking the helm of this family business, Billy carries on his father’s time-honored recipes while also introducing freshly handmade siu mai , which has gained a substantial following, particularly when paired with their signature sauces. His commitment to merging innovation with tradition breathes new life into the shop —one of the few in Hong Kong still making its own sauces.

After taking an extended break from this collection, I finally feel the 🔥 to get back out on the streets, as countless remarkable Hong Kong stories are yet to be captured, and shared. And hence began a journey that spanned two months, as I took on this incredible challenge! 💪🏻
