I chose a wide, long engineered oak plank for this flooring for a few reasons:
1. My clients love to entertain so this sitting room would often be open to the adjoining kitchen. The long boards visually elongate the joint spaces to provide a smooth transition.
2. I wanted to soften the multiple hard surfaces in the kitchen. Timber flooring adds texture, warmth and depth. Parquet should be avoided in wet areas due to the multiple joining gaps and is thus susceptible to warping.
3. Although not small areas, we wanted to maximise the sense of space. The long, wide boards do this.
4. Because I was adding antiques, multiple textiles and interest through art, I wanted the flooring to receed from view.
I truly love this part of my job, navigating the right decisions for my clients and their homes. ❤️
