M&S jeans haul 👖🍂 Three pairs, three very different opinions! 😂

First up, the velvet trousers. LOVE these! 😍 They’re so comfortable, really good quality and lovely and thick. I can genuinely see myself living in these for autumn/winter!

Second pair, I actually love the shape and the little details. Really good value for money too, but unfortunately the leg just isn’t long enough on me. I don’t think they’re quite my style either!

And finally, the infamous barrel leg jeans! 👀 I had such high hopes for these, but I’m a little disappointed. The size 10 feels quite big, but I’m worried sizing down will make them too tight around my thighs. Anyone else find this? Top is from the incredible

For reference, I’m 5’10.5”, and M&S offer different leg lengths, which I love!

So help me out! Which pair would you keep, and should I try sizing down in the barrel jeans? 👇

Dunnes Stores has some GORGEOUS homeware in at the moment 👀🤎

Another little browse and another five things that caught my eye! A lovely mix of practical pieces and a few things that just look really good.

🧺 First up, this wicker basket with bulbs for €30. I love that it’s ready to go! Such an easy way to bring a little greenery into your home without having to think too much about styling it.

🧸 This wicker storage basket on wheels for €125. Okay, definitely a little pricier, BUT how handy would this be for toy storage?! Just throw everything in and wheel it around as you’re tidying. I could definitely see the appeal of this one in a busy house 😂

🌿 This faux plant for €40. A gorgeous way to add a bit of greenery to a room without any of the maintenance. Perfect for those corners that need a little something!

🪞 This brushed brass circular mirror for €50. I loved the detail around the edge. Just a little different from your standard round mirror, and the quality was really lovely too.

🎀 And finally, this gorgeous red tea towel for €8. The little bow detail is SO cute! It’s definitely giving Christmas already, but I absolutely loved it. Such a simple way to bring a little seasonal colour into the kitchen without going overboard.

Do you REALLY need a separate plant room?! 👀

One of the questions I’ve been asked most since sharing our utility room is how much space our air-to-water heating system actually takes up!

We decided against a dedicated plant room and instead incorporated our system into custom-made presses in our utility room. And honestly, it’s one of those decisions I’m SO glad we made! 🙌🏼

For anyone planning their new build, here are the dimensions of the presses housing our system:

📏 Main press:
Height: 254 cm
Width: 71 cm
Depth: 73 cm

📏 Narrow press:
Height: 254 cm
Width: 25 cm
Depth: 73 cm

The smaller pump at the bottom of the narrow press requires approximately 58 cm in height, including room for the valve.

And the best part? We still have plenty of usable storage above it! 🤌🏼

Now, something worth mentioning…

A lot of people use their plant rooms to house much more than their heating system, including their hot water cylinder, MVHR ventilation system and solar battery.

So where are ours? 👀

🏠 Hot water cylinder: In one of our attics.

💨 MVHR unit (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery): In our main attic.

🔋 Solar battery: Housed within our roof space. Ours was installed before more recent guidance around battery placement, so this isn’t necessarily something I’d recommend copying today. Always follow current safety guidance and your installer’s recommendations.

Of course, every home is different, and the space needed will depend on your particular systems, installation requirements and access for future servicing.

But I wanted to share how WE made it work, because sometimes seeing how another home is designed can help you make decisions about your own!

For us, incorporating the heating system into our utility room meant we didn’t have to dedicate an entire room to it, and we haven’t regretted that decision!

So I’m curious…

NEW BUILD TOP TIP #5 🛁‼️

Have you ever thought about which way your bath should face?! 👀

It’s one of those LITTLE details that can make a BIG difference to your bathroom!

We actually picked up this tip from a friend who had built their own home and made this exact mistake! And I’m SO glad they shared it with us! 🙌🏼

Before you finalise your plumbing, think about which end of the bath you’ll actually sit at, where your taps will be positioned and, most importantly, what you’ll be looking at when you’re having a soak! 🛁🤌🏼

The last thing you want is to realise AFTERWARDS that you’d have preferred everything the other way around! 🤦🏼‍♀️

A little forward planning can save a lot of regret!
