My focus is on how spaces are actually lived in and used, not just how they look.

You might think its a stretch but hear me out!

I spent the weekend in a beautiful 5-star hotel and I have holidayed in many a mobile home and while on completely different ends of the spectrum in terms of experience, they do have certain things in common.

Everything is considered. Everything is intentional. The spaces are set up to work for you. Someone has considered what you will need and when you will need it.

What if I want to read on my own, what if I want to socialise with friends, what do i need to sleep well, how would I walk to the restaurant/pool/spa, what would I pass, where might I stop, what did I smell, touch, see as I moved through the spaces?

Nothing is accidental.

Great spaces aren't just about how they look, they're about how they support the people using them.

Most of us will never recreate a luxury hotel in our homes or live full time in a mobile and that's not the point.

The point is to pay attention, to be aware.

How does your space make you feel?

Does it support your routines?Does it help you rest?Connect? Focus? Recharge?

Or have you adapted your life around a space that isn't serving you?

The spaces around us influence our mood, wellbeing, productivity and relationships far more than we realise.

It was a great weekend and just what we needed to recharge but it also strengthened my belief in the power of your environment to make you feel better.

There will always be beautiful interiors to inspire you in magazines and online. I know i love them too...but until you really figure out how you want your space to work you can't focus on this.

Its not the starting point...trust me I've made this mistake myself. Starting with a mood board before I have worked out how we will live in the space.

How you arrive in a space, how you move through it, what you see, touch, smell and hear is much more important than pretty cushions and decor finishes.

I'm not saying you dont need to consider and design these, but they are part of a bigger picture, a more holistic approach to designing the space.

That's why I start with optimising your space to work for you.

You might not know exactly what's wrong in your space, but you know things just feel "off".

You don't feel happy when you come in the front door.
You don't feel relaxed sitting down to watch TV
Mealtimes feel rushed or fractious
You regularly get headaches, feel overwhelmed with your space, dont want to have friends over, feel like you want to throw everything out and start again!

Before we design we diagnose.
We look at what's working and not working in your space.
We figure out how you want to live, what you want to do in your space, what it's set up to support and what you might need into the future.

Before we pick paints, furniture or even design the layout we work out what you need.

"Pretty" is easy to achieve as a layer on top, but its never the goal or starting point.

If i can help you figure out what you need from your space get in touch.

You might think energy is "woo woo" but when you walk into a space that just makes you feel calm, light and happy let me tell you, you dont want to leave.

This is what happened when I walked into a clients home recently. She won't mind me saying it wasn't perfectly styled or even painted in colours she loved (we soon fixed that!)

But she had created a home with a defined purpose for each space.
Nowhere felt unused or forgotten about. There were no stale spaces, cluttered corners or unused rooms. Everywhere felt loved and considered.

Thats why I always start with purpose, lifestyle, habits, desires, future plans. Rather than mood boards, furniture or paint.
The more thinking you do about how you want to live, the better results you get from working with a designer.

I've put together 5 questions, as a free download to get you started on figuring out how you want to live in your space. Get it now via the link in my bio.

Most people, or certainly the 150 people i have worked with don't need more stuff in their homes.

They need better flow, function and use of space.

When you've lived in a space for years, or you are looking at 2D floor plans (before you.build), it's hard to step back and imagine what's possible.

You are so deep in the day-to-day that you can't look up and see the possibilities.

That's where bringing someone in with experience of different spaces and expertise in designing using colour psychology, sensory preferences, functional layout, flow and biophilic design helps!

Not so that you have to understand the theory in detail, but so that you know it's being taken into account for your home to really maximise the potential of the space and give you a home that works better for you.

Now booking for July and August. Drop me a DM or email [email protected] with details of your project.

No two days the exact same. Onsite meeting clients, photographing, taking measurements, at my desk designing, supplier meetings or networking, And I wouldn't have it any other way.

My career to date has always had people at the heart of it.

In my 15 years in corporate, in training and Learning and Development it was all about supporting people to have the best outcomes at work.

And now it's in supporting clients to achieve the best outcomes for their space. Better family time, more productivity, increased customer satisfaction, more relaxed evenings, calmer mornings, whatever clients need from their space, i help to deliver it.

Its always people - clients, suppliers, colleagues, other women in business. I'm always listening and learning about new products, sharing knowledge and looking for the best outcomes.

If I can help you get the most out of your space, get in touch. Or if you just want to start to explore what the possibilities are for your space i'm always open to.a chat.

Did you know that even in if you can't see the clutter it can still stress you out?

I had a client who was so unhappy with their home that they told me they avoided going home!

Think about that for a second.

You work hard to buy a home, build a life, create security for your family… yet your environment can still leave you feeling stressed, frustrated and mentally exhausted every single day.

It is not good to live in a state of heightened nervous tension every day.

Sometimes you are so close to it you just can't see any options.

I work to rethink how you live in a space, to improve function and flow, and solve problems you can't solve yourself!

At the end of working together I want your space to feel lighter, calmer, more usable, for you to have a completely new perspective on what's possible and to provide you with a roadmap you can actually implement (that's what my clients say I did for them!).

If you do nothing else after reading this post, please, stop, step back, rethink your space and look at it with fresh eyes to see what's possible. before you go out buying new furniture, paint, or deciding you need to extend or move!!

If I can help get in touch.

It's not going anywhere! It's only gong to get smarter, quicker, cheaper! It can do up a mood board, floor plan or inspo image in seconds!

Just some of what I hear as an Interior Designer.

So what am I doing differently?

Nothing!

I have been working in this creative field for the last 5 years. Designed over 150 spaces with clients from individuals to families to companies.

My google reviews don't talk about generic design or mood boards. They talk about my perspective, my listening ability, my understanding, my fresh ideas, my detailed reports and plans for transformation.

I will continue to focus on these 10 things as I design:
1. Designing around how you live, not what looks good online
2. Thinking about flow, movement and how your space works every day
3. Feeling the energy in a space as soon as I walk into it
4. Starting with function before aesthetics every time
5. Listening to what you're saying... and not saying
6. Understanding routines, relationships and real life needs
7. Future proofing for changing lives and families
8. Creating spaces with warmth, texture, nature and set up for connection
9. Understanding the impact of the flow of natural light in a space
10. Caring deeply about the people I design for.
