✨ JUST IN – AND ALREADY RESTORED! ✨

We spent the whole night carefully cleaning, treating, repairing and reviving this magnificent Continental three-piece dressing suite, dating from around 1910.

The suite comprises an impressive connected triple-mirrored dressing unit and two matching bedside cabinets. Its beautifully aged original mirrors have wonderful natural patina, giving the entire piece tremendous character and authenticity.

Finished with marble-effect resin tops, decorative gilt mounts, elegant drop handles and ceramic-lined bedside pot cupboards, this is a remarkably complete and eye-catching antique suite.

We have preserved its history and natural character while bringing the rich timber and beautiful decorative details back to life. A truly special statement piece that deserves to be admired.

A beautiful collection of vintage amber glass has just arrived, glowing with rich golden colour and wonderful period character.

The collection includes decorative pressed-glass bowls, elegant candlesticks, a striking cased art-glass centrepiece and an impressive true matching pair of large 1930s Stölzle Art Deco vases.

All are in lovely condition and ready to display individually or together as a stunning collection.

🔥 **WHERE ONCE THERE WAS A PARAFFIN FLAME, THERE IS NOW LIGHT** 🔥

Here at **The Gavel Antiques & Collectables**, we don’t only buy and sell unusual pieces—we also **design and create our own bespoke lighting** from genuine vintage items.

This unique statement lamp began life as a genuine **Monitor brass paraffin pressure stove**, manufactured in Birmingham by **Monitor Engineering & Oil Appliances Ltd.**

Dating from the mid-20th century, these substantial pressure stoves were built for domestic and outdoor cooking. Surviving Monitor examples are increasingly uncommon and sought after by collectors, particularly those retaining their distinctive brass tanks and original fittings.

We have carefully transformed this wonderful piece of British engineering while celebrating its history rather than disguising it.

The aged brass tank, pressure fittings, steel supports and industrial framework have all been retained. We fitted a quality brass lamp holder and crowned it with a spectacular oversized smoky-amber spiral LED globe.

When switched off, the mirrored globe has a rich bronze appearance. Once illuminated, the glowing spiral resembles a flame rising from the original burner position.

This is not a modern reproduction made to look old. The history, ageing and character are genuine—and the finished lamp is an entirely **one-off creation made here at The Gavel**.

🏇 RARE GEORGE BUTLER & CO. SHEFFIELD MULTI-TOOL POCKET KNIFE 🏇

A very special piece of Sheffield cutlery history has arrived at The Gavel.

This remarkable antique George Butler & Co. multi-tool pocket knife dates from the late 19th / early 20th century and is a wonderful survivor from the golden age of Sheffield cutlery.

Made by George Butler & Co. of Trinity Works, Sheffield, it carries the desirable “ART” trademark and retains its genuine period ivory handle scales, beautifully aged with the warm colour and natural character that only comes with time.

What really makes this piece stand out is the extraordinary number of specialist implements contained within one knife. It includes multiple blades, saw, corkscrew, file, reamer, screwdriver and numerous other specialist tools, including implements associated with practical use by horsemen and sportsmen.

The knife remains in wonderfully honest antique condition. We have deliberately left it unpolished and unrestored, preserving the original patina, signs of use and character accumulated over more than a century.

Outside, we have a lovely selection of vintage stone pots, garden planters, troughs, decorative stone pieces and outdoor seating. These characterful pieces are perfect for adding interest to a garden, patio, entrance or courtyard.

Bailey and her mummy may be hiding among the pots and troughs for sale…but don’t worry, the dogs are definitely not included! 😂🐶
