Designuru is a combined initiative of citizens of Bengaluru who strive at making the public a part of an art and design based initiation. The ambition of this festival is to create a dialogue within the citizens of the city through the lens of community and public interest based works. Through a number of design urban interventions in various public spaces around Bengaluru, the festival seeks to d

raw a diverse public into the prism of analytical imagery. As a small community within Bengaluru we hope to document and reconstruct Bengaluru’s identity over a period of time through the projects that directly interact with the citizens of the city to create a vessel of varying narratives. The festival , in context to this vessel will act as a tool for the art and design community to further network and build itself into an informed entity that takes a stance on various city level projects, so as to move towards a better designed Bengaluru. Designuru is a IIID - Bangalore (Indian Institute of Interior Design) initiative.

Ajay Gupta will be leading our mentorship and strategy workshop this morning, focusing on the intersection of human emotion and the business aspects of architecture.

The workshop will draw on firm profiles with team sizes ranging from 5 to 10,000, all of which Ajay is familiar with from his personal experience. Our goal is to explore and discuss solutions for the 99++ challenges we encounter in our daily practices.

The film tells the story of BV Doshi’s journey from European modernism of the 1950s to the architecture of the present- told via Doshi’s own humour and wisdom.
He’s a fantastic storyteller.

Among the most frequently asked questions we receive are:
- “Do we need to purchase passes for Designuru?”
- “Is Designuru an invite-only event?”
- “Do I require a membership to attend Designuru?”

We want to take a moment to emphasize that Designuru is a public festival and is open to everyone!

Our goal is to establish Designuru as Bangalore’s annual architect-driven festival focused on connecting our professional community with the general public.

With an exciting lineup of programs, lectures, workshops, installations, and films held in public spaces, we envision ourselves as a key contributor to transforming Bangalore into a vibrant center for design exploration, where both professionals and the public advocate for “good design.”
