The internet keeps talking about the same design styles.

Let’s change that.

Not every beautiful home looks Scandinavian or Minimalist. Some of the most timeless spaces come from design movements that rarely make it into your feed. In this carousel, we’re spotlighting six underdogs that deserve far more attention.

//Next up: Unapologetically Bold Design Styles.//

Because not every home is meant to whisper, some are designed to make a statement.

When I was seven or eight, the best part of grocery day was the boxes from army canteen.

My cousin and I would turn soap boxes into buildings, fridge shelves into bridges, and wrapped cardboard into entire city blocks. We’d spend hours on the floor, building worlds we didn’t have the words for yet.

Years later, he became an urban planner.

And I found my way into interior and architectural design.

Sometimes I think about those little cardboard cities and wonder if, in some quiet way, we were already becoming who we would grow up to be.

I was good at studies, so I went to Hindu College and pursued a degree in Statistics. The responsible choice. The smart choice. But creativity doesn’t wait. It simply finds other doors.
Art. A travel venture where people signed up for trips without knowing where they were going. A design diploma pursued quietly on the side. And then, almost without planning it, a career in interior design that somehow found its way back to architecture.

No architecture degree. Just instinct, necessity, and nearly twenty years of quietly thinking about how spaces work—and how they make us feel.

I don’t think it was ever a detour. I think it was always the same road.

Hausrani is where that road has brought me, a design consultancy for people who believe that a home should feel like coming back to yourself.

A few years ago, I thought my life would look very different.

I prepared for the Army, was fortunate enough to be recommended twice by the Services Selection Board, and genuinely believed that was the path I’d follow.

Although life had other plans, that journey stayed with me. It taught me resilience, clarity under pressure, and, above all, the importance of leading with integrity. Those values continue to shape the way I approach both life and work.

Growing up in Shillong also taught me something I didn’t fully appreciate until much later—a home is never just walls and furniture. It’s the morning light through a window, the tree outside the kitchen, and the feeling a space leaves with you long after you’ve walked away.

A couple of years ago, I met Aradhna, and through countless conversations, I found myself stepping into a world I had never imagined for myself. What started as curiosity slowly became something I genuinely loved—not just the design itself, but the people behind it, their stories, and the trust it takes to create a place they’ll call home.

Looking back, every turn makes a little more sense now.

Today, those experiences have come together in a new chapter as I co-founded Hausrani with Aradhna.

We’re only getting started, and I’m excited for everything that’s ahead. 🤍

We started this because we believe your home should feel like it could not have belonged to anyone else.

A home that holds the version of you that is still becoming. That gets better as you do. That remembers where you have been and leaves room for where you are going.

What is the one thing you want to feel every time you walk through your door?

17/06/2026

Creating spaces that evolve with you.

A home isn’t defined by the day it’s handed over. It’s shaped by slow mornings and rushed weekdays, growing families, changing routines, and traditions that take root over time. The best spaces don’t stay still. They adapt, endure, and grow more meaningful every year.

Hausarani is an architecture and interiors studio in Delhi NCR, led by Principal Designer Aradhna Singh (aradhnasingh_ )- 30+ projects, five years of design leadership along side Rivaaz S***a (Rivaaz S***a ).
This is day one. The homes, the journeys, and the stories behind them are coming soon.
