Music of the Soil
Some instruments carry music.
Some carry memories.
The Kinnera is more than wood, gourds, and strings—it is a living archive of Telangana’s folk traditions, stories, landscapes, and voices. Around it gather peacocks, birds, tribal motifs, songs, and fragments of rural life, each layer speaking of a culture shaped by nature and community.
This mixed-media work is a tribute to the sounds that echo across generations—sounds that remind us where we come from, even as time moves forward.

Some songs don't just play in our ears—they awaken something within us.
Inspired by the feeling of "Ban Ke Titli Dil Uda Uda Hai", this artwork explores the impact of music on emotion. The butterfly becomes a visual metaphor for the heart responding to melody—lifting, expanding, and drifting beyond the boundaries of everyday life.
Music has the power to make us feel lighter, freer, and more alive. A few notes, a familiar voice, a rhythm we connect with—and suddenly our thoughts take flight.
The circles, textures, and movement within this piece represent sound vibrations transforming into emotion, while the butterfly captures that moment when music gives wings to the soul.
Part of my Impact of Music series, which explores how music shapes our inner landscapes and translates invisible feelings into visual form.

This painting is an abstract representation of the Kinnera instrument showing tribal culture and the earthy forest environment and feel. Kinnera was used to sing songs of Panduga Sayyana, a local Hero who fought against injustice. I have written a few versus of a kathalu (poem) along with showing eagle spreading its wings also symbolising stories of vigour and courage behind this instrument.
