Folk art is my forte. For the last 25 years, my journey in Kolkata Durga Puja has been solely dedicated to folk and tribal art. Every year, I draw strength and inspiration from the stalwarts of this field—those who carved the path long before me.
This year, I took on the toughest challenge of my career—to bring alive Theyyam, a sacred religious ritual of Kerala, for the first time outside its native land, right here in 66 Pally. It is not just art—it is devotion, it is faith, it is the divine moment where man becomes god.
When I heard that Rubi Palchoudhuri, the grand doyenne of Indian art and culture, at 95 years of age, expressed her wish to visit our pandal, my heart was overwhelmed. Her blessing is precious, her keen interest even at this age is nothing short of stunning inspiration.
