Grandparents call Mom. Father calls Mom. Everyone believes only Mom can handle it.
As if the child belongs to everyone when smiling, but only to Mom when crying.
Nobody asks,
“Can I take the child for a while?”
“Do you need a break?”
“Are you tired?”
They simply hand the crying child back to her.
Children cry, they throw tantrums, they get upset over the smallest things.
That’s what children do. But comforting a crying child for the tenth time that day isn’t easy.
Sometimes Mom gets frustrated too. Sometimes she raises her voice. Sometimes she feels exhausted. Not because she doesn’t love her child. Because she is human.
And the moment she shows that frustration, the advice begins.
“A good mother should be more patient.”
“Don’t talk to the child like that.”
“Stay calm.”
Everyone becomes an expert, without carrying the responsibility.
What she needs in that moment isn’t judgment. She needs support. A helping hand. A few minutes to breathe. Someone to say,
“I have got this.”
Because the guilt arrives immediately. The moment she gets upset, she starts questioning herself.
“Am I a bad mother?”
“Why did I react like that?”
“Why can’t I do better?”
Slowly, she begins feeling alone. Not because nobody is around. But because everyone expects her to manage everything.
Without breaking, without complaining., without needing help.
A mother’s patience grows when support grows. The strongest mothers are not the ones doing everything alone.
They are the ones who are loved, supported, understood, and never made to carry the weight of parenting by themselves.
