A space designed to slow down, unwind and gather.

The cigar lounge at Raj Mudra residency is conceived as a dedicated zone for relaxation and informal interaction where comfort meets a more intimate, layered atmosphere. Anchored by a striking backdrop in dyed eucalyptus veneer laid in a chevron pattern, the space introduces depth, rhythm, and a distinct visual identity. The tonal richness adds warmth while subtly elevating the overall material palette. Paired with a massage chair, entertainment setup, and an integrated bar, the lounge is designed to shift effortlessly from everyday retreat to a social setting.

A sincere thank you to Alok Saigal and Vinod Pahuja teams for choosing Venzo. This master bedroom does more than just look good it quietly solves design.

The private spaces at Raj Mudra Residency are designed with a quieter, more timeless approach, where the master bedroom becomes a calm, sea facing retreat filled with natural light and a sense of ease. The bed back, detailed in wood veneer, introduces a strong yet refined backdrop. its structured paneling and natural grain bring depth, rhythm, and warmth to the space making it both a visual anchor and a tactile experience.

But the real moment? a hidden library, seamlessly integrated within an artwork like shutter. What could have felt heavy in a compact passage is instead designed as a light, visual feature blending function into the space without disrupting it.

A buddha artwork anchors this intervention, adding a layer of calm to an otherwise highly practical design move.

It’s subtle decisions like these that elevate the space something you only notice when it’s done right.

A home shaped by warmth, but elevated by art, view, and detail.

At Raj Mudra Residency, the design unfolds as a quiet balance between modern classic sensibilities and a layered Indian narrative. The journey begins at the foyer, where a striking brass mural of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj anchors the space crafted meticulously by Jaipur artisans, setting the tone for what lies beyond.

The living and dining areas open out to a sweeping sea-facing view bringing in light, calm, and an ever-changing backdrop to everyday living. Designed for both scale and intimacy, the spaces prioritise comfort while maintaining a sense of understated luxury.

Within the dining area, a traditional Pichwai artwork becomes a focal point adding depth, colour, and cultural richness. This is further complemented by a curated selection of artworks across the home, featuring pieces from well-known artists, each adding a distinct layer of personality and narrative.

A home where views, art, and materiality come together creating a space that feels both elevated and deeply personal.

This week's Spotlight is a home shaped by material, memory and method Residence One redefines contemporary Indian living through a lens of restraint and craft. Set in Ballygunge, Kolkata, the 2000 sq ft designed by is an apartment that transforms its existing structure into a fluid, immersive environment where teak wood, terrazzo cement and exposed plywood form a unified design language.

Spaces unfold seamlessly through fluted glass partitions and thoughtful planning, balancing openness with privacy. Low ceilings are embraced with teak-clad surfaces and minimal lighting interventions, enhancing warmth while preserving volume. Across rooms, a muted palette of greys and rich wood tones allows texture, proportion and detailing to take precedence over ornamentation.

Materials and handcrafted elements anchor the home in sustainability and authenticity, while subtle insertions of greenery soften the interiors. The result is a deeply tactile, cohesive space where every surface is intentional, and every detail contributes to a quiet, enduring sense of luxury.

A study in material honesty, this Ballygunge residence layers teak wood, terrazzo cement and exposed plywood to create a home that feels both grounded and immersive. With a restrained palette of warm browns and muted greys, the design shifts focus from ornamentation to texture, proportion and craft resulting in a space that is quietly luxurious yet deeply tactile.

Fluted veneer surfaces introduce rhythm and depth, subtly playing with light and shadow while adding a refined verticality to the interiors. Used across partitions and storage elements, they soften transitions between spaces and elevate the overall material narrative without overpowering it.

A seamless continuation of material language flows through dining, kitchen and bath where warm teak surfaces meet muted stone textures and refined brass accents. The dining space anchors the home with crafted simplicity, while the kitchen and bathroom extend the same restraint through clean lines and tactile finishes.

Each space is designed not as a standalone, but as part of a cohesive narrative where continuity, craftsmanship and material depth define the everyday experience.

Turning inward to create its own landscape, the home introduces lush greens through custom window planters, softening a rich material palette of wood and terrazzo. Fluid planning allows spaces to seamlessly connect through fluted glass partitions, balancing openness with privacy.

Faced with low ceiling heights, the design responds with honesty, wooden ceilings laid directly against the slab, paired with surface mounted lighting, preserving volume while amplifying warmth. The result is a space that feels cohesive, immersive and quietly refined.
