Thalassery Fried Chicken Biryani

For Marinating Chicken

1.2 kg chicken (cleaned & cut into 12 pieces)
3 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp salt
½ tsp garam masala powder
1 tbsp cornflour
For Masala
600 g onion (6medium onions), sliced
250 g tomato (4 medium tomatoes)
50 g green chillies (10 nos)
20 g ginger (2 inch piece)
30 g garlic (1 whole garlic)
1 cup coriander leaves, chopped
½ cup mint leaves, chopped
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chicken masala powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
2 tbsp sour curd
2 tsp salt
50 ml coconut oil (3 tbsp + 1 tsp)
1 sprig curry leaves

For Cooking Rice

1 kg Jeerakasala rice
1¼ cup water
1 tbsp coconut oil
2 tbsp ghee
Juice of ½ lemon
2½ tsp salt
2 tbsp fried onion
1 small carrot
5 g cinnamon 4
4 cloves
6 cardamom

For Garnishing

¼ cup fried onion
10 cashews
10 raisins
1 tbsp ghee
A pinch of garam masala powder
