A prime example of how we eat here in Puglia on any given Saturday. Tonight we went to our favorite restaurant with some friends from out of town. It’s called “Dal Contadino” or “From the Farmer”. It’s out in the countryside away from the city, and offers the best versions of all the classic pugliese dishes all in one place. We ordered ONLY the “house appetizers”, and were served TWENTY ONE dishes of fresh, local deliciousness. Most often, this parade of plates is then ALSO followed by a few pizzas or platters of roasted meat for everyone to continue to share, but tonight we were all just too darn full. For five of us, with food, drinks, a bottle of wine, and the cover charge for each person, we paid right around $90 USD in total.
