The sea has always known how to leave its mark on stone.

On the terrace of Grotta Palazzese, Polignano a Mare, the Adriatic doesn't stop at the railing. It continues in a mosaic floor populated by the creatures that live in it. A crab, caught mid-movement in amber and ochre stone ✨

A scallop shell, its ridges built from dozens of individual tesserae. A spiral shell, a nautilus, a conch, each one rendered with the patience that only handwork allows.

This is mosaico figurativo at its most intimate: not a pattern, not a geometry, but a portrait of the natural world, translated into stone one fragment at a time 🤝

They called it the Ugly House.
History proved them wrong.

Between 1919 and 1922, the Milanese architect Giovanni Muzio designed a residential building that would become one of the most debated works in the history of Italian architecture.

Cà Br**ta was the first material manifesto of the Novecento Milanese movement: a reinterpretation of classical tradition through a rigorous, geometric and deeply modern language 🏢

Muzio went on to design over fifty buildings in Milan, the Università Cattolica, the Palazzo della Triennale, entire urban blocks, guided by one principle he never abandoned: "There is no architecture without urbanism."

In the mosaic floors of Cà Br**ta, that principle is visible in miniature. Concentric patterns, scalloped geometries, compass roses in stone. Every detail a decision, every fragment part of a larger order.

Fantini Mosaici × Bvlgari Milano ✨

The Bvlgari flagship on Via Monte Napoleone, marks the first collaboration between Bvlgari and Fantini Mosaici. Two Italian icons, one dialogue in stone.

In the Rotonda, a circular space that recalls the geometry of an ancient temple, Calacatta marble meets curved brass inserts in a floor assembled piece by piece in our workshop, then laid and hand-polished on site over three weeks of meticulous work.

Adjacent to the monumental staircase, a second intervention: bands of golden Travertino and Verde Alpi light frame a refined seminato in opera, a painstaking, centuries-old technique in which marble chips are poured, levelled and ground directly into the surface, composed of Botticino, Breccia Aurora, Onice Rosso, Verde Ming and Onice Rosa. Five stones, one floor, one rhythm 💎

Every material Italian. Every hand trained for exactly this.

Some artworks don't just age. They accumulate meaning.

"La Ricerca Scientifica" was created in 1961 by master mosaicists from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Ravenna, based on a drawing by Renato Guttuso the great Sicilian painter who gave Italian art some of its most powerful imagery of the 20th century. Commissioned for Italia '61, the International Exhibition held in Turin to celebrate a century of unified Italy, the work was a visual synthesis of "the long journey of mankind in the knowledge of nature and its laws."

Today, the mosaic lives at Fondazione Pirelli in Milan, restored by Fantini Mosaici, so it can continue to tell that story 🔍
Restoration is not a lesser act than creation.
