Windowsill Wednesday, but make it a lush Summer garden urn. Created live, with members of my online school on the other side of the screen ☺️

Everything in here was grown max 4 minutes from my studio. And how Dutch of me.. I brought most of it home on my bike.

Big ‘happiness in life’ tip: ride around with a crate full of flowers. Instant smiles for yourself & everyone you pass 🚲💐

Here’s what I used:

Large vase with chicken wire & tape grid

Roses
Poppy
Foxglove
Acanthus
Sweet pea
Malva
Penstemon
Knautia Arvensis
Digitalis Lutea
Lavender Larkspur
Bean vines
Malus
Amelanchier berries
Viola (can you see her? 🕵🏻‍♀️)
Silene
Snowberry foliage
Dogwood foliage
Prunus foliage

Most flowers are from De coöperij soest - which is a tip for florists in Soest area! (not a public cutting garden, sorry)

Unknown pink rose from my friend/neighbour Maaike van der Meer, penstemon from our community garden, foxies from my own garden 🦊💗

You have until 1 July to join my online membership, after that the doors close until Autumn.

The replay of this class is waiting for you! As are 90 other design videos/mentor talks/makealongs/Q&A sessions 🤩

A collection of rain battered roses from our garden. Swipe to see a behind the scenes pic of how I created this flatlay 📷

Flatlays really are perfect way to use leftovers, short stems or fallen heads. And to keep track of what’s flowering right now! I really should do one at least every month. Maybe I will, now that I said this ‘out loud’.

Before you ask, the names I know are on the last slide.

The purple one míght be Rosengarten Zweibrücken, but I’m not 100% sure. I know it’s a Biologische Rozenkwekerij De Bierkreek rose that I bought at ᴋᴡᴇᴋᴇʀɪᴊ ᴅᴇ ᴀʀᴇɴᴅ, years ago.

Roald Dahl is one of my favourite roses and not well represented with those yellow remains. At all. Look her up, she’s a stunner! 💛

Everyone else was never formally introduced to me, so they will remain anonymous.

But it’s not about the names anyway.

It’s about the raindrops on that piece of foliage.
It’s about the way Cubana shifts from honey to peach to pink.
It’s about the pink water marks on Sally Holmes’s petals.

And it’s about creating beauty.

Maybe not a lush arrangement or giant installation this time. Maybe it’s something quicker, smaller, more modest. But it’s beauty nonetheless.

And feel free to disagree.. but I think it makes a pretty nice IG post too 😏

If you want to learn HOW & WHY to create flatlays, there’s a class in my online school! And there’s a new bouquet video class coming soon too, featuring some of these roses.

The doors to Anne’s Flower School will close in July and won’t open again until Autumn. So if you want to join my membership.. this is your time! 👏🏻

It’s a wrap! 💗✨

Our beautiful Floral Artistry Retreat (the 2026 Italy edition) is officially over. I’m at the airport, on my way back home.

My heart is full and my head is still processing everything that happened. It was a magical, busy, wonderful blur.

But a few things are perfectly clear:

🌸 How grateful I am for my right hand, my flower angel, the backbone of the entire retreat: Ana Maria . No words, just love.

🌸 How amazing my entire team was! Thank you for joining me, for guest teaching and for your excitement! (I can’t wait to see your gorgeous photos!)

🌸 The fact we were in SUCH good hands with . Working with you on this retreat has been an absolute dream. We will be back 👌🏻

🌸 How incredible seasonal & local flowers can be. We already knew that, but to work with all this beauty was just heavenly. Grazie mille to all flower growers!! 👏🏻

🌸 The clearest thing of all: my love for every single attendee! We did this for you. I know you felt it. The whole group was amazing, I’m so proud of all of you.

My biggest goal for this retreat was that people felt seen, heard, encouraged and held. And that’s exactly what happened. Thank you for opening up to me, for sharing your creativity and dreams with us, for uplifting each other. And for all your kind words & compliments. You understand my love language 😁🥰

I’m sure I will have more words later. If you want to see more photos, check my retreat highlight!

For now: a massive THANK YOU to everyone involved for making my & Ana Maria’s dream come true 💜

Want to hear about future workshops / retreats? Get on my mailing list!

See you soon,
Ciao!

xx Anne

Postcards from our garden 💜🌞🌸

This season is an absolute dream. I can’t stop taking photos and I probably say “LOOK AT THAT” a hundred times a day. But can you blame me?

The Prunus in our front garden is the showstopper of the entire street. Combined with the Wisteria, a field of self sown Lunaria and all our bulb-filled pots.. it’s almost too much to take in 🤯

This season is also a complete fever dream. It is MAD busy. Not because I’m sowing seeds, but because I have back to back classes in April. Meanwhile, I’m also prepping our beautiful Italy retreat in May.

Whoever is responsible for this planning will get a firm reprimand*

So posting here, creating content, recording new videos for my online school.. it’s all backlogged at the moment. Just bear with me, I’ll get back to it once the dust settles.

Until then.. enjoy these moments from our dream Spring garden with me! 😍

With love,
Anne

PS: waiting for that scratch & sniff option for this one 🤤

PPS: It’s me. I’m responsible. Forever working harder, not smarter 😆🙃

PPPS: Maybe switch off the sound for the last video, our neighbor was DIYing something 🙈

I’m just so glad the abundance of flowers is here again.

I hope it can all bring you some comfort, beauty & hope!

Sending love,

Say it with me:

You don’t need 3 rolls of chicken wire, 800 zipties and tons of flowers to create striking foam free designs.

But one thing you DO need?

A NATURAL BASE LAYER! 🌿

Especially if you don’t want an overstuffed design!

By creating a base layer with branches you create a natural structure to work in 🪸

Which means.. less chicken wire needed (yay for your hands!🩸), less zipties, less flowers to cover up your mechanics.. and above all.. LESS WASTE!

Follow the steps in this post to create your own light & airy flower arch - from scratch 🌸

Or BOOK A 1:1 CLASS with me and let me teach you all my foam free ‘secrets’ in person!

GO to my website and check the available dates! 👀

LlNK lN Bl0 👆🏻

PS: Spring is filling up quickly, so don’t wait too long 🌷

PPS: I’ve shared this arch before but never enough foam free how-to posts right? 👏🏻

PPPS: Spring classes = Spring flowers! 🤩 Did someone say daffodils? Tulips? Ranunculus? Fritillaria? Spirea? BUTTERFLY RANUNCULUS?! Why aren’t you emailing me yet? 🤤😍🫠

Hey florist! Did you know it’s totally fine to reshare old favorites?

You can post the same thing twice.
Or 7 times.
You can post last years work.
Heck, you can share work from 5 years ago if you want.

I mean, if you have the time and IF you have flowers.. go nuts! Create new work, have fun, show your style & skills.

But it’s January, it’s Winter for a lot of us and I don’t know about you.. but when I look outside I see bare branches, evergreens and mayyyybe a snowdrop or 2. That’s pretty much it 🪵🌲

Which can be beautiful obviously, but for us flower lovers it can feel a bit.. uninspiring (I can hear you think: boring!).

Now, I love the rest Winter brings. I love having time for non-design things like making plans for my business and big website updates 🤓

But it creates this “what do I post when there’s no flowers” struggle. I know, because a lot of my online school members & students asked me for advice on it.

I told them what I told you just now: It is okay to re-share older work.

Who cares if you already shared it?

A lot of people might have missed it anyway and the folks that already saw it once (or twice or thrice) will be reminded of your beautiful work! 😍

So here is my 2025 hellebore appreciation moment for you.

I hope this will be your reminder to slow down, recycle and take the pressure off!

Trust me.. you’ll regret not resting once the flower season starts again 🌱

Can you create áctual floral magic with wholesale ingredients?

Well yes. Yes, you can.

The proof is in the so called pudding. At least.. I think this broken arch looks pretty magical 🧚🏻‍♀️

I created this with my 1:1 student back in November. Late November, so there weren’t any local flowers available anymore.

Instead, I opted for semi-seasonal wholesale flowers from the Netherlands & foliage from Italy.

This piece stayed up for 3 days, after that I repurposed everything for a video class (coming later this month!). After that, I used things in wreaths and holiday decor. And now I still have dried flowers left to use in Winter 🥀

Doing the best I can as the imperfect yet whole human I am 💁🏻‍♀️

Here’s everything we used:

* Acacia Luna D’ Argento
* Phlebodium Davana
* Limonium/statice Tessa Lavender
* English Ivy seedpods
* Privet berries
* Rose Nayeli
* Rose Spray Amazing Lady
* Chrysantemum Baltazar Intense
* Chrysantemum Bigoudi Purple
* Carnation Hypnosis
* Carnation Spray Solomio Misterfly
* Brassica Crane King
* Hydrangea Glowing Alps Purple Green
* Callicarpa Profusion Purple
* Sanguisorba Scarlet Star
* Gentiana Pink Ashiro
* Lunaria, dried
* Dogwood branches

And before you bite my digital head off..

Yes, there are a FEW foraged bits in this installation. The dogwood branches, ivy seedpods, privet & lunaria.

But the last three are often available wholesale! (and branches too, if you are lucky.. looking at you LA flower market 😏)

SWIPE to read all my ‘wholesale to magic’ secrets! 👉🏻

And if you want to learn how to create your own floral magic, BOOK a 1:1 masterclass with me!

I have spots in February, March, April (and from mid June onwards). Find all dates on my website 🌎

When can I welcome you? 🌷
