Our Monday students worked so hard to complete these gorgeous fall placemats! 🧵✨
Here’s a look into their step-by-step creative process:
Designing Patterns: Selecting and arranging their fall fabric strips.
Piecing & Stitching: Sewing the strips directly onto heat-resistant batting.
Squaring Up: Measuring and trimming their quilted pieces cleanly.
Enclosing & Turning: Stitching the backing, enclosing the piece, and turning it right-side out.
Hand-Finishing: Carefully closing up the opening with hand stitching.
Decorative Quilting: Selecting their favorite decorative stitches to quilt everything together with unique, personalized flourishes.
They all did an incredible job bringing their autumn designs to life!

Loved catching up with my online student, who just mastered sewing buttons and buttonholes—and is already super excited to learn how all the other specialty feet work! We also wrapped up some great aprons, cozy patchwork trivets, and those gorgeous autumn pumpkin table runners.

Our homeschool and afterschool students had a wonderful Monday working on festive Thanksgiving Placemats! 🍽️✨
They did a fantastic job diving into core quilting skills:
✂️ Pattern Design & Placement: Planning layouts and strip arrangements
🧵 Piecing & Batting: Learning how to sew strips directly onto batting
⚙️ Machine Control: Practicing steady speeds and precise seam allowances
It was amazing watching their confidence grow with every row sewn. These placemats are going to look beautiful on the holiday table! 🦃🍁

Monday Students: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day is October 12th. Class will run as usual, but if you have holiday plans, please let me know! You are welcome to schedule a make-up class for the following week.
Friday Small Group: Open Sew is on from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM! A few of us are working on table runners, but there’s no formal curriculum—bring your current WIP or join us in making some fun fall decor!
Reminders:
Class size is strictly limited to 5 people.
General class availability is from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Please send me a message if you’d like to reserve a specific date and time for private lessons or Open Sew spots. See you soon!

When your plushie needs a little brother, you make one from scratch! 🐒✨
Today in the studio, we tackled a fun design challenge: turning a favorite stuffed monkey into a custom pattern. We simplified the body shape, traced and stitched the pattern, added sweet hand-embroidered facial details, and assembled all four long arms and legs just in time.
Meanwhile, big sis kept our resident studio supervisor, Casper, fully entertained in his sunny window nook. 🐱☀️
