Handcarved and hand painted from cedar wood in the forest of Selva Maya, Yucutan, Chichen Itza. A Mayan Mask. The 2 sided mask is the Jaguar and the Serpent. The jaguar represents protection for the hogar, the house. The red skull, prominent in much of the Mayan sculpture, remembers the sacrifices that were roasted in Mayan antiquity.

Artisanias Kinil is located in the Yucutan near the Historic and Monumental, Chichen Itza. Gregorio carves significant artwork from cedar wood using a machete, a knife and a thin sharp curved tool called a "gurvia". Joel, his son, paints the pieces utilizing forest relics such as leaves and pigment dyes. The result is breathtaking artwork with significant cultural meaning and identity.
