Holidays are here!

A heartfelt thank you to all our Temecula Valley Art League - TVAL members for your continued patronage, and to our volunteers whose "super powers" help us carry the many tasks, duties, and hours of hard work needed to bring our programs to life. You truly are the soul of our organization.

Despite the busyness and the sometimes puzzling pace of the holidays, this season always brings me to a moment of personal reflection. My mind returns again and again to gratitude - the blessing of being alive and the joy of sharing what I love most: my art, my creative spirit, and my talent with our community. I have come to love every one of you, and I'm so grateful for your texts, emails, dinners, outings, field trips, and all the support you've shared over the years. From the funny moments to the 'adulting' conversations, your friendship, love, and encouragement mean the world to me. Every one of those memories is engraved in my heart and gives me strength and energy as we step into this exciting new chapter of TVAL 2026.

"Why do we devote ourselves to this labor of love?"

I've been asked this more than a few hundred times since I began serving as president.
Our art league is entirely volunteer-run. This means that the Board of Directors, Board of Membership, and all committees give their time and energy freely, without any payment or monetary compensation. We serve TVAL because we believe in the power of the arts to inspire, uplift, and transform lives. We believe that even the smallest act-no matter how microscopic-can make a meaningful difference for youth and adults alike. We believe in sharing our creativity with the community and that every piece of art we create carries a part of the human spirit, a story worth sharing with the world.

If you haven't yet had the chance to be part of one of our programs, we invite you to join us. Choose one-or as many as you like-committees or programs to support. Volunteering with a committee is more than just helping; it's a journey. You'll see what it takes to keep a nonprofit art organization thriving, experience the sparks of creativity and problem-solving, share in laughter and sometimes tears, and discover the deep camaraderie that makes our league truly special.

Every moment you give, every effort you share, helps us build a stronger arts community-and touches lives in ways you might never imagine.

I wish you all a beautiful season and good health in the coming year. I look forward to seeing the wonderful new artworks our talented members will create.
With Love and Care,
Ines Miller
President

**“A lemon teaches you strength; a guava teaches you sweetness—together, they form the perfect harvest of resilience and joy.

Nothing is a coincidence in life. Yesterday, a friend invited me to harvest her beautiful and delicious lemons and guavas… and as I cleaned them today, I couldn’t help but reflect on how life offers us both sweet and sour moments. Each experience—bright or challenging—comes to help us grow, to shape us, and to remind us to be grateful for every moment that nourishes our inner journey.”**

"The yellow butterflies dance as if time stood still — a golden reminder of the beauty of living in the moment." ~ Ines Miller.

I lived in Los Cabos many decades ago and have watched the weather and landscape slowly transform into a new, greener habitat — a reflection of our changing climate (for those of us who believe in it). 🌦️

This season, the region is bursting with lush greenery, rains, and clouds of yellow butterflies dancing across the skies. Nearby areas are seeing yellow sulphur-type butterflies (family Pieridae) appearing in great numbers — a breathtaking natural spectacle.

If you’re in Los Cabos in late September or early October, you’re in the perfect season to witness this magical moment. 💛

Painting travel inspiration Venice alley at Ramo Va in campo by Ines Miller. Art home decor.

The process, doubts, and persistence to keep moving forward to create the Venice painting.

"The challenges present themselves in many forms and shapes. This painting was fun to create but took me the longest to complete. The street textures and the broken stucco on the walls were prominent features I wanted to preserve, and as time was place into the canvas the painting adopted its own essence. The memories were triggered to my trip to Venice as my reference image was my own photo.

During this painting creation a wise artist once told me, “Don’t rush it; some paintings need more time to be born.” … I am glad I listened.
After three months of work, I'm happy that I let it rest when needed. I happyidly present my piece, 'The Alley at Ramp Va in Campo Venice, Italy.' It had a fast start, being featured at the Merc Gallery in Temecula, California, in June 2024."
