Step inside our latest Maitama project, a principal bedroom designed around one clear brief: clean, uncluttered, and luxurious.

Our client wanted a space that felt like walking into a five-star hotel room every single day. So every detail was intentional, from the marble accents on the bedside lamp, to the textured grid-like headboard that anchors the room, down to the leather vanity chair with its beautiful stitch detailing. Add in generous wardrobe storage to keep the space clutter-free, and you’ve got a bedroom that’s as functional as it is elegant.

Episode 2 of design debates is here…

Here’s the thing about design “rules”: most of them aren’t rules at all, they’re just defaults. Someone decided a certain way was “correct,” and it stuck, even when it doesn’t always make sense for every space, every light, every person.

The options we’re presenting today all come with their own camp of loyalists, people who’ll swear by one choice and dismiss the other. But the truth is, neither is inherently right. What works depends on your space, your proportions, your light, and honestly, your personality.

That’s the fun part of design, there’s no single correct answer, just the answer that’s correct for you at a particular time, because our design choices change overtime.
