A significant change is being reported within Jehovahโs Witnesses Organisation regarding blood transfusions ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐
For decades, the organisationโs position on blood transfusions has had serious implications for members facing medical treatment๐ซ๐ซ
I know a family who lost their beloved son in an accident because they refused to allow doctors to give him a blood transfusion.
Another woman died after giving birth. She suffered severe complications and bleeding, yet her husband refused to allow the hospital to give her blood ๐ญ๐ญ
This latest report therefore raises some very important questions.
What exactly has changed? Why has it changed? And what will this mean for Jehovahโs Witnesses and their families going forward?๐คท๐ผ๐คท๐ผ
Could it be that someone in the organisationโs leadership lost a close relative as a result of blood shortage, or perhaps had a son or daughter who became critically ill and needed blood?
Well, whatever the reason, if this change means that lives can now be saved, that is certainly something to welcome๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ
But there is another side to this story that should not be forgotten.
What about those who lost their lives while following the organisationโs previous position? What about the parents, spouses, children and other family members who are still living with those avoidable losses today?
A change in policy may help prevent future tragedies, but it cannot bring back the people who have already died.
Can a change in policy ever truly make up for lives that were lost?
Just thinking aloud๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ซฉ๐ซฉ
