The city of Amersfoort is a historic city in the province of Utrecht, renowned for its well preserved medieval centre and cultural heritage.
Notable landmarks include the Koppelpoort, a 15th century city gate, the Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren, one of the tallest medieval church towers in the Netherlands, and the Mondriaanhuis, the birthplace and museum painter Piet Mondrian.
