Your Ceramics YourCeramics Studio - handmade vases and interior objects made by Daria Platova Hey! 👋 I'm Daria, the heart and soul of the YourCeramics Studio.

The first time I touched the clay was in 2011. It was an instant connection, and I fell head over heels in love. I love to blend different techniques: wheel throwing and hand-building, smooth and texture, shiny and matte surfaces. My passion lies in observing nature, drawing inspiration from it, and crafting unique ceramic vases and interior decor items. Each piece is slowly handmade, embodying th

e uniqueness and irreplaceability of the natural world. Just like the diverse and singular aspects of the natural environment, each of my pieces is one-of-a-kind. From the texture and form to the intricate details, these creations are designed to bring a piece of nature into your home.

Not every moment in the studio is about making something new. Sometimes I just slow down. Choose a tool. Touch the clay. Look at the surface. Try something. Change my mind.

I love these quiet moments in between.

6 hours focused on the fundamentals of wheel throwing.

This intensive is for those who already have some experience on the wheel, but still struggle with centering or pulling up cylinders.

We work with 1 kg+ of clay, repeat the movements, analyse mistakes and correct them along the way. Volunteers prepare and wedge the clay, so you spend your time at the wheel, not preparing materials.

The goal is simple: leave with better control, stronger muscle memory and a real step forward in your throwing.

13 September & 1 November | 10:00–16:00 | €160
English | Max. 10 participants

Not for complete beginners, but you don’t need to be confident yet. If you’ve completed about a month of wheel training and can work with up to 1 kg of clay, you’re welcome.

I’ve just listened to Kafka’s The Metamorphosis as part of my research for the upcoming Kunstlijn Haarlem exhibition on metamorphosis.

I was surprised by how simple and almost unemotional the writing felt compared to what was actually happening. Gregor wakes up one morning as a giant insect, but everything is described so calmly and matter-of-factly. It felt almost as if Gregor himself didn’t fully realise what was happening to him. And somehow, that made the whole story even more disturbing.

What stayed with me most was his sister. She starts as a caring, concerned sister who tries to look after him. But little by little, care turns into disgust and rejection. Her transformation was almost more disturbing to me than Gregor’s.

It made me think about how conditional care can become when someone stops being who we need them to be.

A little update on what’s been keeping me busy lately.

It’s been a quiet month here, but not a quiet one for me.

I spent ten days on an intensive Dutch language course, completely stepping away from everything else. Being immersed in the language every day helped me make real progress, but it also gave me the chance to step outside my usual routine and look at my life and practice from a different perspective.

At the same time, I was preparing for and taking part in Klei Kunst Route, which was a wonderful experience.

Now my focus has shifted to developing sketches and new pieces for Kunstlijn Haarlem in November.

And, as always, I keep returning to my experiments with plants. This time I’m fascinated by their roots. I think they’ll deserve a post of their own soon.

A weekend in Dokkum for Klei Kunst en Route.

This year I had the chance to take part in the exhibition and show my work alongside so many wonderful ceramic artists.

I spent Sunday walking around the different locations, seeing the works in person, meeting other artists and talking to visitors. It was also a perfect excuse to spend the weekend in beautiful Dokkum :)

A big thank you to the organisers for bringing everything together so well, and to everyone who stopped by, looked, asked questions and shared their thoughts.

Happy to have been part of it!

I’m happy to share that I’ll be participating in Klei Kunst en Route 2026 kleikunstenroute

I’ll be showing a selection of works from my Fragile Beauty series alongside 24 other ceramic artists during this ceramic art route in Friesland.

If you’re visiting on Sunday, 26 July, come and say hello. I’ll be there and would love to meet you.

More details are on the poster.

I spent ten years measuring time in human hours. A project manager in IT. Every minute was accounted for.

Then emigration. Then everything stopped. For the first time in years, I had nowhere to rush. I took out a sketchbook. I drew a flower growing along the road. I’d passed these flowers my whole life, but it was as if I’d never truly seen them.

Jenny Odell calls it «stepping off the assembly line.» I didn’t choose to step off. I was pushed.

That flower became a sculpture. Then another. Then 12. Now I’m working on 30. Not because 30 is a round number, but because 30 flowers in a room change the atmosphere of that room. And I want to see what happens when people walk through them.
