I rest my case on the whittling class, and think I’m good to go. Finished the knives today, and they feel good. Each student borrows a kit of knife, strop, wood, ruler, pencil, glove and thumbguard. Compound we share. They’ll learn safety, four main cuts, considering grain, stropping, practice safe cuts and an owl in six steps. Anything I’ve forgotten, now is the time to speak. 😄 Happy carving, I hope this will be.

The plot thickens. 😁 Making strops for my class project. Pine and pig or kangaroo leather. I chose these because they are thin and has minimum give as opposed to thicker leather, which may round the edge if one’s not careful with pressure and angle. Happy carving and stay safe. 😄
