New notebook alert 🚨

Sometimes I go weeks without any good ideas and sometimes, in the middle of doing something else, the inspiration suddenly comes and I just can't wait to get to work, until I bring the idea to life.

That's how this notebook came to be: meet "The Starry Night" ✨️

It features a deep black cover, hand-embroided with a celestial dance of silver and gold. I chose a traditional Japanese binding, for its beauty and durability, and filled it with warm, brown lined sheets that are easy on the eyes.

As a book lover, the first cut is the deepest. ✂️

No matter how many times I do it, taking apart a book still feels a little bit like a betrayal. My book-loving heart winces every single time. (I think my face says it all 😅)

But it's a necessary act of love. To rebuild something stronger, you sometimes have to start by carefully taking it apart. This is the first, most difficult step in giving a beloved story a beautiful new body and a second chance at life.

Hei, I'm Filipa, the hands and the heart behind Bound by Fils! ✨️

This journey began when I rediscovered my love for books and stories, and that little-girl excitement for beautiful stationery came flooding back. I felt a deep need to create with my hands (after trying a few hobbies that sadly ended up in the corner), and then I saw someone on instagram rebinding books. I immediately thought, "Oh, this is it. This is what I'll try next."

Needless to say, I fell completely in love. Both with the creative freedom of designing covers and the precise, mindful work of measuring, cutting, sewing, and gluing.

So now, between night shifts as a nurse and being a mum to two little girls, you'll find me in my free moments doing just that. Somewhere in there, I also devour books from my never-ending TBR pile and watch at least one k-drama a month for good measure. (The juggling is real! 😅)

The magic is, I still haven't gotten tired of it. And that tell me everything.

Now I've decided to share this passion with you. My dream is to create something meaningful together, in the form of a cherished book or a future treasured notebook.
