The whirling dervishes at the Mevlana Centre in Konya. It raises an interesting question: should their performance be described as a ritual, a dance, or a tourist attraction?
Another topic for debate is the role of women in the Mevlevi tradition, including the fact that women can also become dervishes.

From a felt maker’s perspective, I find it especially fascinating that the felt hats have remained virtually unchanged for centuries. Even more meaningful is the tradition of placing these hats on the graves of dervishes, symbolising their spiritual journey and devotion.

I can’t talk about Turkey without mentioning amazing people that we met on our way Kilim Shop İstanbul and konya_hali_mezati_ who moved the sky to help me with finding felt makers in Konya that was our next stop after Istanbul ❤️❤️ Thank you for all the phone calls to your friends, brothers, relatives etc. Without you our trip wouldn’t be as wonderful as it was! If smb is in Turkey (or is planning to) and looking for an authentic kilim ❤️🐑💪, not machine-made carpet, don’t miss their stores! * If you want to hang around for a cup of coffee or tea and just talk - not necessary only about kilim - the bazaar in Istanbul is the best coffee place 🥰😍
