Te Ariki Creations Te Ariki Crafties: Handmade, lightweight polymer clay jewelry inspired by Aotearoa's beauty.

08/10/2025

At Te Ariki Creations, we don't just craft earrings—we capture the essence of the world's first embrace.
Each piece is a miniature world, inspired by the eternal love and primal separation of Papatūānuku and Ranginui. Our polymer clay mirrors the rich, grounding texture and vibrant life force of the Earth Mother, while the clear, shimmering resin holds the expansive light and infinite possibility of the Sky Father.
When you wear a pair of our creations, you carry a piece of this sacred story. You connect to the deep roots of the land beneath your feet and the boundless blue above your head.
It's more than jewelry. It's an affirmation of your place between the heavens and the earth.

Ready to Get Creative?
Join My Polymer Clay Training!
I'm excited to teach a few people the basics of working with polymer clay! It's a fun and versatile craft that lets you create everything from jewelry to home decor.

To get started, you'll need a few key supplies. Here's what to gather for the training session:
Polymer Clay: Brands like Du-Kit or Cernit are great to start with.

A Roller: An acrylic roller is best, but a smooth glass bottle or PVC pipe will also work in a pinch.

A Pasta Machine: This is a huge help for conditioning and rolling out the clay evenly. You can find inexpensive ones specifically for clay.

Cutters: Any cookie dough cutters or other small cutters you have on hand will be perfect.

A Heat-Proof Tile: (mitre 10 or bunnings)A glossy, non-matte tile is ideal. It gives you a great work surface and can go directly into the oven with your finished pieces.

If you don't have these items, don't worry—they're all easy to find online or at craft stores. Let me know if you're interested in joining, and we can set up a time to create something awesome together!

These earrings evoke a sense of transition and hope, much like the journey we envision for our mokopuna. Here's a name and meaning inspired by Te Ariki and the future:
Name: Te Ara Whakamua o Te Ariki (The Forward Path of Te Ariki)
Meaning:
The design of these earrings, with their gradient from a vibrant top (perhaps representing the dawn or a beginning) to a grounding darker tone (the foundations and strength of our past), embodies the journey of our mokopuna. "Te Ara Whakamua" signifies the forward-looking path, the progress, and the bright future we aspire to for them. It acknowledges that their journey is built upon the mana and teachings of Te Ariki, and the generations that came before. The colors symbolize the light of knowledge and the depth of heritage guiding them into a future where they stand strong, connected, and empowered to fulfill their potential and carry forward the legacy for generations to come. Each earring is a reminder of the continuous flow between past, present, and future, with Te Ariki as the guiding light.

Lighting does not do this pair any justice, modelled by my kotiro Aatahua Shakira.

This set is a mix of red white and black, it looks ataahua with the matte look.
