Rocket - Stairway Light. Available for purchase.

Visualisation starts by sitting peacefully and imagining. The concept for this pendant light started as a rocket, the design was then transformed through structural requirements during the build.

The location of the stairway space is tall ceilinged and narrow walled so it's shape and size was understood from the outset. The shadows cast on surrounding surfaces with the lamp on or off are equally interesting.

The six main spines are Kwila. The timbers attached from dark to light are Purple Heart, Jarrah, Kwila, Mahogany, Vitex, American Ash. The inlets and afterburners are American Ash. The chassis ply is Gaboon. Metals are copper and aluminium.

Linear Pendant Light

This over bench light is of Jarrah with Kwilla, horizontal fins. Birchwood ply is set between the two main Jarrah slabs to support a LED strip recessed back. It is a heavy and solid light fitting, which helps this light appear as though it is floating by antigravity. The spirals on opposite faces are copper and steel wire.

Peter is based in Auckland, New Zealand and has a building background and a creative mind, his sculptural design pieces are the perfect marriage of form and function.

Peter admits to being slightly influenced by the Art Deco style and a hint of futurism. Limitless conceptual boundaries start his creative process, then the practical construction and placement dictate the final solution.

Peter designs a range of functional sculptural pieces to fit every interior space. From light fittings, wooden speakers to individually crafted hand rails. The material of choice is primarily rescued wooden off-cuts. Each creation emphasises the individual character of the wood used, resulting in a stunning aesthetic experience.

If you are inspired by any of his designs, he’d welcome the creative challenge to develop a piece that uniquely fits your space. Please contact Peter via the website to let the journey begin.
