Welcome to Petticoat Project – our dream upcycling workshop - born from a love of vintage finds and a mission to give old stuff a fresh twist. Moving to NZ on a budget soon led me to op shops, where I was amazed by the beauty people toss out. Our home filled up fast with vintage gems, and upcycling became a passion. I say old is the new gold. Restoring items reduces waste, saves energy, and brings

back beauty of the past. A torn seam or busted zip isn’t the end—it’s the start of something new. Why “Petticoat”? That cheeky little layer turned housewives into pin-ups—proof that a little makeover goes a long way. That’s our jam. Recycling is cool. Rethinking is hot. Redesigning is fun. Repurposing is smart. Some pieces come together slowly. Others arrive in your mind fully dressed. This was one of those pieces. I imagined something elegant, layered, and quietly dramatic… and it turned out exactly that way.

Finished in a pale sky blue chalk paint, then carefully accessorised with metallic and black accents, and crowned with delicate golden floral motifs. Finally, it was sealed with a premium-quality wax for a beautiful, durable finish that will stand the test of time.

Some pieces come together slowly. Others arrive in your mind fully dressed. This was one of those ones.

From the beginning, I imagined something elegant, layered, and quietly dramatic… the kind of piece you’d expect to see on the front page of an interiors magazine. And somehow, for once, it came out exactly that way.

A little daydream brought to life. Maybe one day she’ll make it onto that magazine cover.
Until then… she’s waiting for her next home 🤍
