Hollie O'Neill Artist

Hollie O'Neill Artist I'm a New Zealand-born artist, based in Tamaki Makaurau / Auckland. "My paintings capture the power and beauty
of NZ's natural environment."

Working in abstract minimalism, my practice is inspired by the peaceful beauty of nature and how the light interacts with it. Selected as a finalist for NZ's prestigious Parkin Drawing Prize 2020, also twice a finalist for the NZ Painting and Printmaking Award. My work is held in private and corporate collections across NZ, Australia, China, UK, USA and Germany including significant collections su

ch as 'The Wallace Art Trust Collection'. I participate in both group and solo shows, and work is sold in galleries throughout New Zealand. I explored fine art practices while studying Bachelor of Art and Design and have been a professional Artist since 2000.

I am inspired by having lived in some of New Zealand's most beautiful towns. Growing up in the Bay of Islands, living in Waihi Beach, Wanaka and Auckland - captivated by NZ lakes, mountains, NZ Native flora & fauna, and birds, as well as New Zealand's majestic animals; my paintings illustrate the essence of New Zealand. My recent works are an exploration of the perceptual phenomenon of light and the potentialities of colour as pure sensation. I enjoy working on commissions and I am happy to discuss these with you. You are welcome to visit me in my studio and view an artwork by appointment.

In the studio, pouring heart, mind and soul into the work. From ‘Solar Seduction’ and ‘Solar Verticals’ to new explorations in colour and light, the flow never stops — and neither do I. Loving these soft, luminous effects emerging from the journey. I’ll be showing new works at the in Wellington — can’t wait to share them with you.

My artwork is part of the Eden Park Art Tour! You’ll walk through the players’ tunnel, see the behind-the-scenes art spaces usually reserved for the stars, discover amazing NZ artists, and hear Linda’s legendary commentary.
And I’m thrilled - my previous work was the first artwork sold on the tour.

Golden light over Rangitoto, and colours that drift across the canvas like the last glow of the day - and I’m excited to share that my new Veil-Field paintings will be released at the NZ Art Show.
